Suspension Work

Well guys, need some advice. Thinking about getting sub frames and upper and lower control arms on my 04 GT. Some one told me if I wasn't going to get real aggressive at the track to just get the sub frames and upper control arm. What's the difference in putting both control arms or just one? Would it be worth it to do suspension work or do stuff the the engine. It's a stock engine as of right now. Thanks in advance.

You probably dont need it right now but its good to buld the car befor the motor i think. That frame will bend once you get enough power so you might as well go ahead and get the subframes. If you asking will your carr get faster at the track with suspension rather than motor mods? No, it wont but its safer to have a strong car befor you have a strong motor. Thats the route i plan on taking once i get the new stang. Build the car, then the motor.

yeah i have my suspension all beefed out (control arms, sway bars, subframe, strt tower brace, springs, struts, etc) with basically just bolt-ons on the motor.. i love it! it even stays where you point it in the rain!! :redrum: :redrum:
you might want to invest in a good rim/tire combo, too. i ran the modded suspension with both the stock 8" wide bullitts and some 10.5" wide cobra r's on the rear and 9" wide on front.. the cobra r's with good tires make SUCH a difference
but like diesel said,

Thanks for the info. Right now nothing is done to the engine just a K&N filter. I also have 3.73 gears, UPR o/r x-pipe w/spin techs and a steeda tri-ax shifter. Went and got me some Mickey Thompson ET Streets. Work pretty good. Ran a 13.7@99.32. Need a little more practice w/ them. First time using drag radials. I don't think it's too bad though.

Yeah dude if you plan on hooking like that def. get the subframe connectors. Otherwise your car will lean to one side after a while.

Damn, didn't know that. I'm hoping to get the suspension work done in February for my b-day. Trying to convince the wife to hook me up so I can hook up better.

Like every one said before build the suspension to fit your "final" :jmg680: engine combo, that way you don't have to do things over and over again....as for subframe connectors, not all are the same...ie quality, fitament etc. I would suggest full length connectors from Maximum Motorsports, for some of us it's overkill but, with these you know nothing is goin' to move on ya. It's also a good foundation if you ever decide to seriously race the car...my .02
