I have an 02 saleen SC 281, my buddy had houseofboost old fox saleen, and my other friend on here, jake has the yellow twin turbo car. They have ups and downs, my car is basicly a 2v motor with a eaton m90 blower, in stock form the cars make 5-8 psi, chicane sells a pulley that they will see 10 with and make decent power. the 03-04 saleens have the whipple blower which is nicer and the extremes have built motors with saleen cams, and the 05 up have the new twin screw. the cars handle well and if they have the brake upgrade, they stop great. in my opinion a saleen is much nice than a roush, looks better, pretty much same performance, but saleen is considered a manufature and will hold value since it has its own NADA rating the paint work is not very impressive though

Ok the Saleen breakdown is as follows..although I dont know the production numbers. There are a few types of Saleens, and they are the following:
There is the S281 NA
There is the S281 Supercharged with Series 1 to 2 Eaton Blowers..then in 03 they put the Series 4 on it which is a Whipple 1.6
There is the S281E which come loaded out, with a built bottem end, and upgraded valve train and cams, with the Recaro Interior, Big Brakes, Center Exhaust, and the Series 5 Whipple 2.1
There is the Saleen 281 Cobras, they came in SN95s, and the New Egde 03/04 Cobra Saleens too...they are pretty rare, and most ones you find already have KBs on them.
There is the S351s they too were SN95s, and New Edge. The last year they made them was I belive 99. Some came N/A, others came with the Vortech Blower, and then the really rare R Code Saleen 351s, which boasted a 490 horsepower. Alot of these owners have to upgrade the fuel pump in these cars though, beacause the stock one cant handle the power, from what I have read.

Bottem line if you want power go with Roush...if you want looks..go with Saleen!!!

Not true.....1994 to 1995 the supercharger was an option or an "R" code. If you bought it N/A it was the "T" code. In 1996, all 351's were blown.....except for two.

Saleens...they look great! The S351 is a awesome Stang and you dont see them on the road much. But..your paying for name and thats about it. The superchargers are cute. My friend bought an 06 for like 75 grand with all the perks..when my 04 Cobra was stock I walked him hard 4 out of 4. It depends on what you want out of a car. If you looking for power and a good looking car I would get an 03/04 for alot less money and put 5 grand into that and you will easily be over 500rwhp-Shane

Hello blkstang87,

That is exactly what I wanted, LOOKS. I have owned a 2001 GT (sold) since 2000. When I ordered it, the Saleen is what I really wanted. From the first time that I saw the Saleen, I thought it was the best and most aggressive looking Mustang that had ever been put on the street (IMHO). However, at the time, I could not afford the 25K upgrade. So, I had to wait till they came down in price to afford one. I finally got a nice used one that had been taken care of. Coincidently, mine already had most of the upgrades you see in my sig. Right now, it is at ****** ************ getting a spec 2 clutch put in it, a SCT re-tune, and a couple of other small issues.
You should be able to get a nice 2002 SC281 for around 20K-25K (give or take some) depending on mileage, and condition. I saw a real nice one listed just north of Austin, that had all of the mods for about 22K. Also, do an advanced Autotrader search and type "SALEEN" in the key words. There are some nice ones on there today. I wish you luck.

Dale
