Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices

• Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
• Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
  • If sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 area of the windshield, the light transmittance value must be 25% or more;
  • The luminous reflectance of any additional sunscreening devices used must be 25% or less;
  • Sunscreening device cannot be red, blue or amber in color.

Side Windows
All side windows must have at least 25% light transmittance and luminous reflectance of 25% or less, over the entire surface area of the window.
*Rear (back) Window

• If vehicle has left and right outside mirrors, there is no minimum light transmission requirement.
• If not equipped with both outside mirrors, the rear window must have no less than 25% light transmittance and a luminous reflectance of 25% or less.
• The manufacturers installed glazing shade band is excluded.

25% is the dumbest rule ever....even though we have the darkest legal law of any of the states now; Nobody makes 25% tint, so wtf. Atleast 20% looks closer to legal now.

oh wow. i didn't know the tint laws!! I have 5% all the way around and its twice the "ansi" length on the front windshield. oops!

um... wouldn't they catch that when doing the inspection? Ive been inspected twice so far and heard nothing. hmm....

I heard a radio ad for Mother's tint saying that the tint law had changed and that they could now apply darker tint. Anyone know if this is true?

well frankly im tired of my 5% tint on my side windows. it doesn't bother me on the quarter windows or rear windows much, but around here, there's no street lamps or lights period. its all country, and at night, you can't see anything with the windows up.

not a bad problem really, you can just roll em down, but when its cold or raining at night, having the windows down sucks. I figure ill go the next step up on the tint, which I believe is 20%

if you go to a custom place you can get 10%, 15%, 20% etc.

really? dang thats cool. I got out of the tint/car audio business about 5 years ago, and haven't kept up with whats out there anymore.
as far as i know, they just have:
2%, 5%, 20%, 35% and 50% but it would be nice to have the 5% increments. Personally, i wish they would legalize "reflective" tint, because with my car being silver, i think silver tint would really set it off... or make it one shiny piece of car.

i got limo tint on my 94 and have never even been pulled over. i live in la vernia where the cops have nothing better to do then give out shit tickets like that, but still havent been stopped. also i go through selma alot and they have never even pulled me over and if you know selma....YOU KNOW!!!!! if i see a 5-0 i just roll down the windows...works great

I got my inspection this week nervous about emissions, and I failed the Tint test.

They changed the law on Sept 1 2010 apparently.

The guy gave me a passing sticker anyway, but said it might cause problems in the future.

I got the MACH done Tuesday and for the 1st time EVER they ckd my tint.....
Got a 24 but he said they have a + - of like 2......
He also told me they recently changed the law.....

and my hook up place no longer does insections I had to roll the dice.............
