The Cach 1

Since I've sunk a little bit of money in my Mach, I might as well start a thread on it.

Here is the morning after I bought it back in June of last year

I drove it for a couple months totally content with the car until I came across an eBay auction with 03-04 Cobra Eaton parts one night with an insanely cheap price so I started collecting parts. I got all the stuff in the pic below for $50 shipped

I then found a takeoff unit from a crate motor along with a wiring harness and other goodies for $800. I then sold all the previous stuff which more than paid for the new zero mile stuff

But if I put a blower on my car, what will I need for a fuel system? And won't I blow up my TR-3650? Problem solved! T-56 and complete tank and pump setup from a 36k mile Cobra. Got the transmission, crossmember, alum driveshaft, Steeda tri-ax, alum flywheel, and complete tank and pumps for $1250

Many hours on the internet doing research and scouting for parts, it's time to dig into this mother f'er.

The wife wasn't too thrilled seeing a car we just bought 6 months prior in this state

Now it's starting to look like an engine again. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Here's some vid action of the initial startup. I had a very big SEG this day.

And it's maiden voyage to check for leaks and to put some fuel in the almost empty tank.

And finally, here it is on the rollers making sure the A/F is in check (cause my lazy ass still hasn't wired up my wideband, lol). Car made 439hp/405ft lbs w/ 11.0-2:1 AFR.

That about sums it up so far. I am waiting for my fab guy to get the shaker bracker back from the machine shop so we can coat it. Then it will be 100% done as far as the swap goes. Not sure what is next for it.

Damn thats one nice Cach... I wouldn't mind riding that Cach sometimes (I mean uhh in it)...

But seriously sweet car, what are you doing for the hood area? Is there anyway to fab up the shaker to its stock position?

Bought my next round of mods for it this past weekend.

Independant rear setup from a 2003 Cobra. All stock with the exception of a BilletFlow diff. brace. Also has the BilletFlow rear bracket braces.

Magnaflow catback (same one I have on my car now, just the IRS specific version)

Maximum Motorsports rear coilover kit

I should be getting this installed sometime in the next month or so. I just need to get my Delrin bushing kit ordered.

Project looks awesome however!

Having owned a 99 Cobra w/ IRS, the ride quality of the IRS is much better. It also feels a lot more stable on roads that are not smooth. Sure, I might be adding some weight to the car, but I can always offset that with more HP, lol.

Either way man, it's your ride. I'd go with a nice suspension setup on a live axle and have the reliability for high hp and nice handling/street manners. Either way keep us updated on this project appears to have about the best of everything

That's awesome. If it was that easy to do the 03/04 Cobra blower swap to a 2v, I'd do it.

Hey, I guess this means your not looking for a IRS to swap with anymore? I saw your thread on SVT Performance. Nice car BTW.

A local guy near Austin is fabbing up his Mach 1 hood scoop/shaker to fit the eaton. Shouldn't be too much longer.

Yeah, people with Mach's do that when they get KB's. The shaker hides the blower perfectly.

Time for a thread bump!

Since the last update, not a whole lot has happened. I wound up selling that IRS I posted earlier in the thread as I was going to sell the car but changed my mind. I am swapping my SRA for another IRS this weekend. The transmission is also coming out as the 3rd gear syncro took a shit when playing with a GT500 last year .

I also took it to SAR and ran a 12.5x @ 115.xx w/ a 2.1 60 ft on my shitty Nitto 555's (not the R's, just the radials).

IRS is getting a full bushing kit. The catback I'm getting with the swap is Bassani. Haven't ever heard one in person so we'll see how long that stays on. The transmission is getting a full rebuild, new 3-4 sycro assembly, billet keys, bronze pads and a 26 spline input shaft. Not sure on clutch selection right now but I'm leaning toward the Spec 3+.

I'm also thinking since the rear is out, the trans will be out shortly, It wouldn't take much more to pull the motor and go ahead with forging the bottom end. I'm still mulling this over in my head though.
