the crap gets deeper

well I went to go pick up my car yesterday. I still dont have it. I took it for a test drive and the transmission is all jacked up. It a AODE they tried telling me it was a aod and I was like your dumb. the electronic over drive wasnt hooked up. and it took forever to kick in axcelerating from a stop. it has like a 4-5 secound delay. anyways I called the insurance nad I have to take the car up to this trans shop and they are going to tear it all down and see if my transe was jacked before hand or due to the incident. This shop I was going to get my car from said they did a flush on the trans and found alot of metal in it. I am wondering if hydro locking the motor causing bent rods would also have some effect on the transmission. The trans was fine before this mess. I swear one big head ache and I want my car back and running. so darn ugly coming back from deployment.

you may just want to try swapping out your VSS before doing anything else.

I doubt the engine had anything to do with the transmission issues but you never know . What transmission shop are you taking it to ?

well got me some better news. I had forgoten Ihad a extended warrenty on my car still so I called them up and they said oh yeah we got you covered and in fact instead of fighting over towing the car and having my insurance say if they will pay or not. my warrenty company said they got it. That just made my day.

a warranty company will just buy a re-maned trans from some company and ship his back to the re-man company... no beefing involved... unless he convinced the tech to throw in a diff. stall if he buys one.. that would save some $$

Yeah just looking to have it back to running right. I can do a performance trans later down the road along with the stall. I dont think I can get them to cut me somthing special. although the insurance says that this trans shop is supposed to be realy good. if they do a rebuild who knows. The car is over at Patriot Transmissions now off of West Ave and I-10. That was there sugested place and I didnt want to go hunting for a better one as I just wanted my car back already and for it to be good. It has been almost a monthsince I have driven it.

my point is that its always cheaper to upgrade while its out, than to pay again for removal and reinstall. if you were to just bring a new torque converter or shift kit, they would probably swap it for free if you let them keep the OEM replacement. (to sell on the side) also, a 12 pack of cold beer at closing time goes a long way.

Talk to the shop and pay the difference on the new parts rather than just having them put reman'ed parts in!

yeah they are doing new parts I talked to them about it. I am planing to put a whole new trans in later also . one that is actually built up to handle the car. these stock trans's cant hold up. I have to get a stall too for the cams and heads I have at my place too. so anyways. it will be a bit before I do this so this stock thing will be fine for now. I can always sell this trans later.

well got the car back. the shop that did the motor and interior will never touch my car again. they didnt hook back up everything in my interior. my fog lights, the cigarete lighters, the O/D button on the shifter. its some jacked up stuff. that and my addapter for pluging in my MP3 player is gone too. man I want to kill those SOB's. I guess thats what i get for taking my car to someone on the south side to work on it. I guess I cant trust USAA's word on suggested shops.
