The fall of my 3650
Well my transmission finally decided to die completely on me last night. Good thing I picked up the TKO600 from azuremach03 when I did. It got here on Monday.
My stock tranny had been grinding since August of last year when I took it to the track. Either the third gear synchro went bad or bent forks prevent it from going in smoothly at any RPM. I had stayed driving the car up until last night with no problems. I had changed out my shifter since I sold my Tri-ax and was gonna meet up with the guy today to deliver. Of course, what does everyone do when they switch out parts or add something new? I drive it around the block and hammer on it and see how it feels. Well I was admiring how long the shifts are with the stock shifter back in and ripped through the first three gears. Third grinding just as bad as before. I had accidently left the T/C button on so it sputtered some when I changed to 2nd. Mad I didn't get a good smooth run I went around again this time making sure the T/C was off. Nail it again but this time second sputtered worse than the first time and third did not go in period. Start heading back to my dad's house (thats where I do all my mechanic work) and slowing down for some other cars in front of me I noticed it acting kind of funny. Park it in front of my dad's house and get out and immediately smell burnt clutch. Just blow it off and go inside and relax for a bit before I head home. Go to leave and car grinds the first attempt to start and then fires right up. Go home and park the car on my driveway and take a peak under the car. Coming out from the bottom of the car is a handful of clutch material. Looks like the clutch died before I could finish off the tranny in the next two months. :Flame: Now that is said, I already purchased some more stuff to complete my list of what I wanted to get done while the tranny was out. LDC cooling mod canton cooling tank slp lineloc cobra lower grille insert My question is this. What else should I look at replacing while im down there? Typing this I remembered driveshaft safety loop and still trying to decide if I should get a Fidanza aluminum flywheel or not. Any other suggestions or comments? |

Sux on the tranny issue...
But when you mention cooling mod, are you referring to the crack pipe mod? The one that goes in the head, if so, you need to get a plate to help secure it. I have the crack pipe, but have yet to find the plate to keep it in place. Other then that, differential service, stronger u-joints, and fuel filter. (your under the car right?) lol

T-45 FTW.... lol, smooth shifting, low maintenance, and with a short throw shifter, saves the shift forks!!!

Need to install T/A girdle and will change fuel filter since I will be back there. Thanks for mentioning that. Yes the 3650 is being replaced by a TKO600. |

But that is the mod you are talking about right? The "crack pipe" ?
No charge on the tip for the fuel filter!!! lol
