Thermostat?

Well about 3-4 days ago my low engine coolant light came on and i started to smell antifreeze when driving. The radiator was pretty much empty of coolant so i filled it up. Drove to school and looked at it after school and it was about half way full. Added some more coolant and continued to smell the antifreeze. Also the car isnt leaking antifreeze. I have come to the conclusion that it probably is the thermostat, but i just want someone else's opinion b/c i am not a ford expert. So do you think its the thermostat or if not what do you think it is?

P.S. changing the thermostats tomorrow no matter what :jeff:

Cracked intake manifold. Happens to most pre01 stangs, mostly SN95s. Grat time to upgrade to PI Intake or Both PI Intake and PI Heads.

I'm pretty much 95% sure that's what is happening to you.

Well a bad stat will not cause it to use water it is going somewhere and if you cant see a leak it is probably going out the tail pipe. IE bad head gasket or cracked intake.

No i havent felt my passenger side floorboard. Should I? But what i have seen tonight it isnt a cracked intake, but my heater hose or w/e that goes into my firewall isnt there. :redrum: I dont see the hose hanging so im gonna let my brother look at it tomorrow and then go from there. Hopefully this wont cost that much to get fixed but if it does i am going with a new engine or maybe a new car :jeff:

you may need that hose....fill the water and run the car..look for it BLOWING out the engine area....but check the pass floor board for a bad heater core...that will cause the smell..

If it isn't leaking coolant it's blowing it out the tail pipe.Get it looked at before you cost yourself an engine if you haven't already. :jeff:

Hammered, I would let you work on my car anyday. The heater hose inst missing, but the coolant is leaking out of the overflow valve or w/e for the heater core. So tomorrow me and my bro are gonna make my car "ghetto" and bypass the heater core for now.

Does anybody know a good mechanic in B/CS or should i take it up to H-town or SA?
