[quote=KWClutch;507542]Thank you...even in "drivers training" they say if someone is on your bumper to remove your foot from the gas pedal and slow down to encourage him to pass. QUOTE]

When I was in driving school he told us a good rule to follow is stay behind the person one car length for every 10mph your going. I know that is a bit extreme, but he tried teaching good ethics.
And if you speed up you will only be tailgated at higher speeds.

Sometimes the "rules" aren't the safest thing either. Usually I'd speed up and let him pass but I just wasn't in the mood too.

If there is someone in the lane next to me and I cant get past them, you can wait until I do get past them, or you can go around both of us. If you continue to ride my bumper, I will make it a point to slow down and maintain pace with the car next to me just so you cant get by. Just because you are in a hurry does not mean that you control the speed on the freeway, and everyone in your way needs to put themselves in danger by speeding up to whatever nascar speed you feel you need to drive. As long as I'm not driving less than the speed limit, I will drive in whatever lane I feel I need to (usually not the left lane, but sometimes it is necessary), and if you dont like the speed at which I am driving, go around. The only people I will make a point of getting over to let them by are emergency vehicles, whether their lights are on or not.

That being said, there was no need to try to squeeze in on him when he tried to pass you on the shoulder. If he's in that big of a hurry, and he thinks he can get around you on the shoulder, let him.
+1, nicely put

Just bear in mind that the highway is no place to play games.

If you insist on acting the same in the future, be prepared to accept responsibility when someone is seriously hurt or killed. Just chill out, and stay out of their way. Don't be the one to escalate the problem.

Yes I understand that. Thanks for the advice but if a guy runs me down and has an accident because of it I don't think I'd be the one to pay for it. I stayed in my lane.

You think that's cute focker????? If I saw somebody do that for something so undeserving I would be handing out an ass whoopin. Be glad that guy didn't have a gun and shoot your ass. I know if I had one I would have shot your car up a few times just to scare your ass from doing shit like that again.

TO O.P. of thread---

If you don't want to speed up and pass the car when your in the left lane which is for passing only, then slow the fawk down and move over? Takes 2 seconds and you can keep the traffic flowing. Not that hard if your not in a rush. Who want's to stay next to an 18 wheeler anyways? They throw all types of crap that will do more damage to your car than a bike can ever do.

Me personally, I would have sped up and moved over to let them pass.

It's funny when im going in one direction of the hwy and I look over and I see like 10 cars in line in the fast lane waiting to pass while three cars doing 65 are blocking all three lanes.

Understanding what you read is key. I said undeserving. I don't know what happened so I can't say.

I know things go both ways. That's why I don't fuck with people I don't know.

true. good point. my roomate i sand diego had a new 350z at the time. some bike boy drove by and was messing w/ him. he blew him off and rolled his windows up. well that piece of shit threw something at his hood and put a nasty ass dent in it for no reason! his new hood winded up costing him $500 bucks, but before he left my buddy left him a lil gift. lets just say it rained nickels and dimes for him.

See now that was deserving. I think I would have done more than let it rain nickel and dimes for that SOB.

I get terrible road rage when people want to tail gate and then tell me to move over... the way I see it is I don't need to answer to any other driver on the road. If someone is in a hurry or has an emergency that warrants them putting other drivers safety at risk by speeding and driving erradically then they should have their emergency flashers on. There's no way in hell I would have made any extra effort to get out of this dirt bags way... especially not because he wanted to just drive fast.

And for the thought that a bike can't hurt a person driving a car, if you're going 80mph and the jack off driving crazy lays it down I will bet big money that lots of pain will come from slamming into a 700+ pound pile of metal and flesh on the road. And If you try and swerve to avoid it you'll be putting yourself at risk of loosing control and any other vehicles around you...

I can def. agree with the road rage.... sometimes "bikers" get impatient it may not be a safe move at that moment for the car to move to let the speeding bike pass. If you squeezed over toward him as he tried to pass on the shoulder that should of been warning to him that he needed to back off. I probably wouldn't intentionally do it if I could have moved right at that point to make the situation better, but sometimes its not that simple.

Anyhow, glad nothing happened, hopefully the rider of that bike gets smart before something bad does happen.

I do agree that if someone is going faster get out of the way, but if makes you feel unsafe speeding up then slow down and get over.

By the way if he would have hit my car, I would have nudged him a bit, then I could live with running him over....lol

Yeah it goes both ways. But by a person throwing loose change at the biker you are basically assualting him, and putting him in fear of his life. With that being done, he has every right to pull out his firearm and use it to the max of his ability. And in court, he would win even though him being an asshole of a bike rider because that person assualted him first and he was just defending himself.

Maybe... just maybe if pocket change can be deemed dangerous and deadly weapon from somewhere other than the top of the empire state building! Served by Graves... it does seem a bit farfetched eh?
