i believe he lives in austin so it would end up being an expensive tint job to travel down here to do it

Mother's was running some really good deals a few weeks back. One was tint + remote alarm + install for $199.

I know they had some nice deals on tint alone.

Not meaning to hijack or anything....Never heard that, but interesting... I had an 89 gt hatchback about 6 years ago that mother's put tint and alarm on. The fucking car was stolen out of my driveway less than a month later! I got the car back in less than 12 hours with only "certain" parts taken.

Mothers does a crapy job and it will come off within a couple of months. and yeah one of my friends cars was almost stolen right after he went there.

I dont but I have had several friends that it has happened to.

+1. I have seen some of their install jobs. Cheaper is not always better. Friend of mine had a head unit installed and it sound like crap from day one. Some speakers were wired wrong (+ and - reversed) and were not on the right channels (left front was like the right rear). They must have been out of electrical connectors that day cause they used black electrical tape for the connections.
