Tire and spring question

I'm going to install my 17x8 2000 Cobra rims on my 2000 GT. What is the widest tire I can fit on that rim without having problems? I'm going to lower the car and add caster camber plates too, I was thinking of going with Ford C springs and some maxium motorsport caster camber or steeda 4 bolt..... :rubchin:. I want the car to look mean and low but not too low.

I wouldn't go any bigger than a 275/40 on the 17x8

werd. I have Nitto 275/40 on my Bullitt rims with no issue. Nittos give a little extra lip (helps minimize curb rash. ).

I've been to a couple of tire websites and for the stock Mustang GT wheels (17x8), 265 is the widest the tire vendors recommend. A 275 requires at least a 9 inch rim. I wouldn't go against what the tire vendors recommend.

I've used 275's on my Mach 1's (bluestangchick's now) and Toni (enuf4u) used 315 Nitto's on stock bullits with no issues.

I run 275x40's on my 17 x 8 rims - no issues
but I'm gonna go 17 x 9 rims soon
that will look wider with the tires and they will have
room to fill out good.
