tire size

What is the widest tire that can fit on a stock 2002 17" bullitt rim? I've heard 275, 285 and some have even said that a 295 will fit.

Yea the nittos usually run small and 275 even with them is pushing it. IMHO pick up some 10.5s for 159 each and some 285 kumhos for 160ish I think now each. Not much more $ and MUCH better looks. My 285s fit the 10.5s pretty good, it could stand a 295 but it looks good right now....and you cant beat the price for such a good tire. Do you want some pics?

Congrats on the track times. I actully got 10.5 bullitts for $139 + $12 for shipping. Mrt's price was match by discount. I have two other post about the 315's that I ordered. I'm actually asking for a friend who has 275's, nitto 555's, on the rear and was gonna put those for his front. His front tires are worn and he wants to get bigger tires for the back.
I have heard that nittos run smaller than other brands. Can a 285 or 295 fit on a stock bullitt rim?

Just because I'm lazy....you're using 17X8 stockers in the front and 17X10.5 DDs in the back?

You're thinking of running 275s(or 285s/295s if they fit) in the front and 315s in the rear?

Actually, I posted this question for a friend. He is going to get some new rubber for the back and was wondering what would fit on the stock rim. Sorry for the confusion.

Nah......I was considering the same thing. So I was curious if you were gonna save me some posts later on... .

My main concern was that the function might work, but the finishes of the rims might differ. Has your friend noticed a difference, or is he happy at this point?

because its not safe to run that wide of a tire on that size rim. if you lookup each tire brand/size specifications it will list the recommended rim width. 95% of the time you'll want to follow that pretty close, with a few exceptions.
