Talking Tire sizes on some 18's??

Ok...The net is telling me the best sizes for an
18X9 is 255-45-18
18X10 is 275-40-18

Isnt the middle number the height percentaged out of the width (first number)?

So this would make my cars tires taller in front than the back...!!

If I make them both 40 or 45 I cant seem to find the same brand tire and model to match up the thread pattern in both those sizes.

Ideas please as I am tiretarded.

The handy dandy tire chart says you are right.
255/45/18 = 27.04 high
275/40/18 = 26.66 high

285/40/18 = 26.98 high
You probably couldnt tell a .06 diff between frt and rear.

I'm not a tire expert, but I would run some 265/275-35's on the front and some 285/295-35's on the rear. Currently I run some 18x8, 245-40-18front and 18x9, 285-35-18rear.

Can you tell me what tires you use? I have the 18 x 8.5 polished and I was told the same thing as the others regarding the biggest size I can get.
