the bank that had a lien on it also had the title. the bank was bank one...which switched over to chase and they had no record of the lien/title...and thats why they just made a lien release for it. but the tax office wount take it...
i bought it real cheap....the guy i bought it from was not the original owner the one who put the lien on the car

edit: i know the name of the only previous owner....

So you got your info, if not then head out to a DMV office, and tell them the situation, they can get you the records. Might charge you, but they should be able to help you.

When Kelley paid of her car off last year Honda sent the title off into never never land somewhere. I had to get a copy from TxDot.

You already have the release of lien letter. Take that, your license, and the form in the link below, and $6. You can walk in to the office at Callaghan & 410 and walk out with your title.

I was gonna say that the bank should've had the original title. Maybe when it switched to Chase they lost the document. I would think they would be the ones that could request a new/duplicate title for you, or you can with the release of lien paperwork.

I've received a new title from the DPS office on Callaghan and 410 before when I lost a title. It only cost like $6.
