Took my 94 GT VERT to the track. RESULTS INSIDE!

Well Friday night I was running shitty times at LMP in Sealy, TX. So I decided to go to HRP in Baytown Sunday.

Here are my times. My first run starts on the right and last to the left.

My best time was a 14.5@92 with a 2.0x 60' ON STREET TIRES

I am planning on going back in a few weeks. I was wanting to try putting VHT on my tires next time so maybe I can get a 1.9x 60' time.

Are these good times considering my mods??
Mods:
3.73 gears
3.5" CAI
bbk 70mm TB
msd blaster coil
full MAC exhaust(highflow cats installed for emissions)
eibach lowering springs, control arms, and sway bars
pro50 short throw

I was trying hard for the 1.9x 60' time. I came close on my best run. I think it was because I was lined up against a new 05-07 Mustang GT. I ended up beating him. I took about a car to a car and a half off the launch and held my ground. I was surprised he didn't suck me up.

I was shifting at about 5000rpm... I think I should be shifting around 4900. Next time I will try using VHT and get a 1.9x 60' and shift at 4900rpm

yea, decent times for that setup. i'm guessing that with you in the car, it weighed 3500lbs... for a car thats probably making 230hp at the fly, i wouldnt expect more than 93-94mph out of that setup with that car's weight, with mid 14s for times.

next time out, stop by the track's scale if they have one and find out how much you+the car actually weighs. using weight and approximate hp, you can judge pretty well what your car should be running with this analyzer:

MustangWorks.com: The Internet's Ford Mustang Power Source!

you could also try changing shift points around, see if it helps to go a little more rpm, or a little less for that matter. you're off to a good start though.

Acourding to that when I get my setup complete I should be running 13s, I can deal with that for awhile

Dont be afraid of 47-4800 shift points. The 2.0 60s isnt bad
on real street tires.

those seem like pretty good real time runs. stockers run high 15 and 16s all day long. so with just exhaust and gears, yea, thats about right. i guess you could say you're driving pretty good too. 2.0 60's arent bad.

yeah they are shitty Falken tires. I still think I can pull a 1.9x on street tires. I had the tires at about 40psi that night.

I am doing some weight reduction before next time and get my car dyno'd w/ a a/f to see if it is running good

Everyone on stangnet said I should be running LOW 14s....

I can't powershift 3rd... everytime I powershift 3rd I end up missing it. I can still shift into 3rd fast though. Every other gear I powershift.. sometimes going a little sideways in 2nd. I will try earlier shifts next time. I might be able to get a low 14 next time w/ weight reduction and better driving

if you're still running tha stock T5, be careful with powershifting.. even the stock power output can waste a T5 powershifting.

i think the best i got on some yokohama street tires was a 1.94. hitting 2.0's or 1.9s on street tires means you're doing something right. i think i set my tires at 22lbs in the rear, max for the front. but it may be that a different pressure works for you.

every 100lbs reduced will roughly equate to .1 second off in the 1/4 mile. gasoline weighs something like 8lbs per gallon too.

just some more info for ya

i like this thread.. lots of positives... my only thing i can contribute is that gas is 6 lbs/gal... 8 was close but growing up w/ dirt track racers, you learn stuff like that real quick

haha.. yeah I was getting good launches for street tires.. I was with some of the cars with dr's off the launch. I am going to try different shift points next time and make sure I am low on gas hehe

This Saturday I am going to get my car dyno'd at strictly performance. What should my a/f ratio look like?? How much power should I be putting down at minimum?? What type of gas should I be running?

i'd guess about 210-220hp. 200hp minimum. i'd run the gas you run everyday.

if you run a high 15 low 16 in a mustang, something is seriously wrong with your driving. LOL

i have 94 gt that runs 12s, big whoop. theres faster cars out there, and there's slower ones. i dont know how i am supposed to prove this, but who's to know if something was wrong with their cars or driving? when i go to the track, im not up under someone else's hood, i'm up under my own.

ive been here a while too, and i think i remember people ranting and raving about how good you drive at the track. with a 5sp 94 and flows you ran a 14.99? thats not hard to see how someone else could run a high 15 with an automatic and no flowmasters.

All this track talk is really making me want to see what I can do with my car... My cars mostly stock too, and I've never been to the track.

I might try to go to the upcoming dyno day @ PSI, to see what Im starting with. Then hit the track with you guys sometime.

I said if they were automatic sure, but this thread is about 5-spds. If a 5-spd V8 SN95 is running high 15's there are problems, either with the car or the driver, or both.
