track? insurance?
ok guys. well i have been trying to barter with my dad to see what mods he will and will not let me do. he was going to let me supercharge my stang but then he said that he doesnt think that insurance covers going to the track (he doesnt want me supercharging it just for the street because he things i street race--which i dont) and he doesnt want me wrecking at the track if thats the case.. (meaning. no going to the track)
does yalls insurace cover the track or what? what can i tell him to convince him to let me do some crazy mods.

You can join NHRA and/or IHRA and they should offer some type of medical coverage for accidents at a recognized track, but you are on your own for fixing the car. TJ

yep yep.... so apparently he doesn't think you can drive in a straight line.. lol, you have to have a LOT of power to f**k up going in a straight line.. which is why i never worried about insurance at the track..

1. There are all kinds of things that can happen (like an engine fire) that would be covered if you were on the street but won't at the track. 2. By the big end of the track you are going at least 70-80 MPH, even in a really slow car. If the car ahead of you left coolant, oil, or something else on the track you CAN go sideways and you will do damage. 3. Sometimes there are going to be fast cars in the other lane. If I am working on the suspension on my 10 second ride, I do not even worry about a reaction time. I might leave a full 2 seconds after you. I could pass you at half track coming up on 100 MPH, go sideways hitting third, and I will hit your car pretty hard no matter how slow you are. It is part of the risk that comes with racing. Don't race the car unless you are prepared to crash and or break it AND fix it without the help of insurance. TJ

Going down the track at 105+ mph is safer imo, than driving through the damn parking lot at the track,.
Some Guy on a motorcycle one time almost t-boned me, poor guy almost killed himself, and he thrashed the bike, It was crowded that night.

Track Crashes
A few years ago, some dumb ass was Purging his No2 by means of WOT(wide open Trottle) and his car ended up under Big Ben Fraisers car...Ruined his 9 second ride, he ended up having to buy a whole new(used) roller to put all his stuff in, So the track is not always the safest place...going in a stright line is the least of your worries.

Texas is one of two states in the nation where your insurance company is required to cover your car at a race track if you are not participating in a timed event. This means that drag racing is instantly excluded. However, were you to run at a road course during a drivers' education event, and not a race or other timed event, your car would be covered. Key words - timed event. Doesn't help you much if you intend to drag race, but road courses are fun too!

It WILL be mine, oh yes, it WILL be mine...

That's right, most insurance contracts in texas exclude coverage in "timed events". Otherwise, your good.

There is additional car insurance for the track, I have been told and corrected form those who can afford such things.
