Tranny?

Hey, i have a 2002 4.6 with a 5speed tranny. Bought it used not too long ago at 55k miles and it is starting to Chatter at high RPM(4k or heigher). When cold the chatter is twice as loud.... I try not to push it due to the fear of breaking something. Anyone have any ideas? (for those that may have this qustion, there is NO sliping when changing gears)

Sounds like an issue with the pressure plate . I would probably have it looked at pretty quick before something more serious happens and either ruins the bellhousing of the trans or worse .

Took it to a tranny shop and they said the same thing... they want to lift it no charge to make sure tho. If im going to mess with the clutch im going to replace with a performance clutch. Any recommendations? nothing very expensive.... this is my daily driver and i just want a nice stiff clutch that feels good performs well and will be at a good price.

Either a SPEC stg 1 or something like the LUK clutch will work great for you .

Whatever you buy, buy it as a kit. Clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing, and get the flywheel resurfaced.
