Nope ..... its making noise because either its been ran low on fluid or you have excessive wear on the gears . You can go with a thicker fluid but its going to be tougher to shift when it get cold out side .

If it's whining it has problems. Such as bad gears, bearings or or just way too loose. If you are talking about a chattering when letting the clutch out, that is a flywheel, clutch and pressure plate problem. I the trans is making noises when letting the clutch out or getting on the throttle, your tranmission is loose, basicaly the shafts have too much end play, needs to be rebuilt. I would not drive the car hard if it has excessive end play it will not last long at any power level. Getting a T5 rebuilt is not a big deal, just make sure the person doing the work knows what they are doing, if it is not shimmed correctly you will have the same problems with the new parts.

I have a T45 and I need to know how to take out the drain plug on my tranny. Is there a certain tool? Im putting in a MGW shifter and Ive decided to just go ahead and replace the fluid too.
