Yes I bought 5gal of the finest!!!!! But does anyone know why peanut oil? Is it for the flavor or what? Just curious.

^It is suppose to be for the flavor but Jody and I were just talking about it yesterday and think we will try just plain vegetable oil sometime. We did buy 4.5 gallons of peanut oil from Sam's yesterday for $45.00, we fried up the last turkey it came out looking super nice, I didn't like the marinade as much (Creole Butter) but it was still good. The rest of the peanut oil is for Thanksgiving... can't wait.

they told us one time at work why to use peanut oil. If I recall correctly it had somethin to do with the flash point. Peanut oil has a higher flash point than vegetable so you're far less likely to have a catastrophy. But I could be wrong, I just remember them sayin to use peanut oil and it was a good reason.

Jena and Jody much thanks for openin up your house to us all I know I had a great time and the turkey tasted toooo damn good!

As far as the sides I'm really picky but I tried the 7 layer dip (well a layer or two at least) and it was good as hell too. But by far the sweet potato stuff kicked much ass. Frankly I've never even tried it before and I was amazed. The fried pickles were 10 time better than hooters and the fried oreos were just different... tasted like a chocolate funnel cake which was good. Thats about all I tried.

Anyway thanks again to everyone that came and all those who brought stuff.

^^ We did pickles again, and they were even better ^^ Mixed up some ranch with tobasco sauce and it was very good.

I read that there is an oil called "fry oil" and has the same flash point as peanut oil and half the price. Since we have the fryer now, we will always experiment with foods and flavors.

safflower oil has a equivalent/higher heat rating than peanut oil, though it may cost the same.
