Turkey Fry G2G 10/4/08

Jody and I are willing to host this at our house since, we are wanting to purchase a fryer and test it out before Thanksgiving.

We should be doing a few Turkeys to make good use of the expensive Peanut oil. Let me know if your in and if you are willing to help out with anything (i.e. turkeys, peanut oil, propane, side-dishes, money...)

The Madison car show is also on this day, so I would say that this event will take place in the evening after the car show (around 4 or so). As most of you already do, don't forget to bring your ice chest full of your favorite beverage and your folding chairs - just in case.

I will re-edit this post with more exact details as the time nears.

Jena/Jody: Fryer, Turkey, Sweet Tea
JR/Carol: Potato Salad (?)
Amanda/John: Turkey, Fried Potato chips/fries
Kelley/Adam: Green Bean Casserole
Kayla: 5 gl. Peanut Oil
Monkey/Rob: Dessert, Fryer "hook-up"
Jen/Steve: sweet potato side dish, 7 layer dip
Ashley/Jason: ICE, Sodas, Water
Traci/Don: side dish (?)
Dave/Jackie: Pico

well it depends, if you want to bring something specific do that, but if some people don't want to bring something they can plan on donating money towards their food... I just don't want a handful of people to come over with food and others come over and eat for free, this should be something that everyone who wants to attend will throw in on.. ya know.

I will have to window shop for turkeys and oil and the fryer this weekend, we probably will buy the bulk of this stuff.

since we will have the fryer going, if anyone wants to bring their own bird with your own seasoning, feel free to bring it to fry it, you can take Most of it home cause you know LSS will have to do a taste test on some of it... ror

I have a 10-12 lb turkey from last year still in my deep freezer, I can defrost that and bring it. I don't mind sharing it with LSS, I know it's not a huge Turkey. I can pitch in some cash for peanut oil or bring some kind of side. Just let me know what you want me to bring.

If you bring a side or something that is cool, I wouldn't worry about giving money.

depends on how many turkeys...2 or 3 per turkey is a good rule of thumb

I was thinking 5 gallon just to be safe, we may be doing a few turkey's and need to refill every now and again. You don't have to bring a side dish, but are more than welcome to if you like... buying that peanut oil is more than enough help!

i got a fryer and propane tank in my garage i can bring, but i dont think it has a lid or the "lift tool"....im gonna have to check when we home. whoever brings a turkey should do the inject/seasoning the night before.

we can also bring a cooler/ice/sodas/water.

thanks for the offer J, we are going to be buying a fryer so we will be good on that,
but water, soda, etc. that would work.

good point on the marinating of the turkey the night before.
