+1 there.... with all the cash in mine, I will be lucky to get into the low/mid 12's

but then again.... I don't think I want to risk all that money, time, and work at the track due to inexperience there as well...

i wasn't disagreeing, just asking..

and thats a dumb argument you made.
-how many of them have a 5.0 in them? are we talking fox bodies or 5.0s?
-more importantly, they are old cars; in general they are cheaper to buy/replace
-most people would prefer a knewer car as a daily driver, and their older car as a track car.
-i could go on..

you are missing the point.
go build a street/strip 5.0 and go build a street/strip 99-2004 mustang and come back and let me know which one was more expensive.
heads on a 2V are about a grand more, cams on a 2V are about three times as expensive and thats not including the extra crap since they are overhead(such as chains and tensioners),headers on a 2V are about 200 bucks more, a fox body already has a return style fuel system and that will come in handy when you want to make some power, you can punch out a bare 302 block quite a bit compared to a 2V and you actually see large gains from it, and if you want an aftermarket intake on a 2V you better be ready to shell out some coin.
It is just simply cheaper no matter how you cut it. Hell, if you are going 4v then it is even more expensive. Plus the newer models have much more electronic and expensive sensors to deal with.
And as to why i'm modding the hell out of my 2v, i am an idiot.LOL
If you are into the newer motors and that is what you have, nothing wrong with it. You just can't beat the cost of a 302. If you really want to get angry, lets talk about the cheap potential of an LS1. hahahahaha

I'd much rather build an LS1 versus a 4.6.... but then again, I do not own anything that has an LS1...
If you shop around in classifieds in other forums, you can put together a "budget" build for roughly the same cost as a 5.0 new. But it requires time and searching and being at the right place at the right time as well. New cams for a 2V range from 500-700 depending on brand and source. Used from 200-400.... do the math...

the LS1 dilemma is the reason why my fox body has sat in storage for over two years.

It sucks that Ford does not have as great of competition with GM for dollar to dollar power!
With an LS1 and a 4.6 SOHC, you are giving up nearly 80 cubes and 100 horse right off the bat!
Not everyone can afford the Corba just to be near a Z28 or WS6, that's another reason you see more F-bodies out there too !
Just my opinion though!

I park next to one of them durned LS1's. It will cost me 5 times as much as he's putting into his car to match what he's gonna make when he's done. But I'm gonna do it!

I read up on that 474hp 2004 V6 Auto, and flipped over it lol. Though I'm a little scared to see the price. I know for sure this is my summer goal.. lol

Just curious what would be the major price difference in that wicked V6 at ya'lls shop, or just getting an entire V8 package put into my car?
