OK I can see that tensions will probably still be soaring by the time everyone reads this but with all the complaints I hear and have read here, why don't the true mustangers here make there own "club" I mean it cant be very hard and yeah at first i wont be huge but after the people that decide to join this wonderful TAMSCC, cough cough bullshit cough cough, club they too would most likely quit and start looking for another one that actually does have fun and so on and so forth, friends would tell friends and people would see stickers and shit and people would see that this is what its supposed to be like. All about fun and BBQ's and road trips and shit like that. So what do ya'll think, many are unhappy so lets change that, I'm pretty sure there are enough of us here to make it happen?

it sounds cool, but isn't that what this website is.
I mean LSS already has the ground work laid with a website, stickers, shirts, multi-city members.

and being one of the original members of LSS... beleive me, starting a club IS hard. I didn't have much official input on building this club as far as making the website and moderating, but ive been recruiting for this club for years and supporting it in everyway that i possibly could. watching the development of this club... its extremely hard to make a club. this particular club as is known today (LSS) can be traced back through 4 previous clubs that either the originals of LSS were a part of, or that the originals of LSS tried to create before. its a lot more work than you would think, but i think LSS has finally had enough experience to create one that will be around for a good long while. 2 years ago, we had LSS running strong in the BCS area. ~30 cars every friday night at kroger on sw parkway. after summer when i went back home to SA for the summer and bandit moved to houston, the club quickly died and this BBQ this saturday will be the first official event since. we're workin our way back onto the maps!

what im REALLY getting to, is more so of the fact that i do not feel welcome there. when you have an established club where everyone knows everyone (take for example, the san antonio section of this site LSS or TAMSCC) ... people are quick to go to their friends in the club and chat up a storm. in TAMSCC, ive not felt welcome because no one came up to me and talked to me, trying to make me feel welcome. the few people i did go up to and talked to, didnt really talk much to me, moreso talked to the girl who came with me. thats not any way to encourage people to join a club. in LSS in san antonio, if you come out to biffs any given friday night and you dont know anyone, and you park close to us and come ask if we are LSS... you will get an ambush of "hey whats up? whats your name? welcome to biffs! good to see you out here." it makes you feel welcome and comfortable. makes you part of the group. LSS does this very well. TAMSCC on the other hand seems to be unwelcoming group. maybe not conciously, but definitely subconciously atleast, they are unwelcoming. if yall want to lose your reputation of being a mean club, make new people feel welcome. just to give you some idea of what im talkin about.... the only people i talked to for more than 2 minutes there, were Wade, Candace and Maria (the girl that came with me)... because i already knew all of them. everyone else talked to me for a minute or less. said hi and bragged about their car, and that was about all.

i will say that yes, it is hard to get your foot in. i think the only reason why i am is bc i am dating one of the "clan" (super-old ppl).
this is something that we have been discussing. |

the club just needs to be restructured in my opinion.
try to get more involved in the local car scene. They will probably gain more respect that way. Actually I have been seeing more TAMSCC peeps out on fridays and wednesdays, but I believe that is because they are ex-TAMSCC peeps.

Quote:
As I said, auto-x is a very busy time, where most of the officers are busy doing other things. Believe it or not, we try to have events where we soicalize with members (noobs included!) I would agree, we aren't very social in the middle of an auto-x, but I believe we more than make up for it at other times. I was at Sonic last Friday, the 31th, with approx 6 other club members, and not one person I didn't come with made any attempt to come up and talk to me, despite the fact that I am a LSS member, and used to own and auto-x a Fox body. I realize that most people here have never met me, or ever will, possibly because of the fact that they someone told them I post mean things on the internet (or have seen me post on the internet). Most people said I ruin the club without ever hearing me utter a single word. While this is certainly your prerogative to dislike me, saying you dislike me and the club because of what you heard (or saw) me post on the internet is just silly. No one from LSS came up and tried to talk to me or make me feel welcome as part of LSS, or tell me how much of an asshole I was (if you actually feel that way). Seriously, before you say we don't welcome people, actually try and come to an event where we make it a point to welcome people. Don't misunderstand; I'm not saying you have to like me, or the club. It's not for everyone, and I accept that fact. But don't go to only one event, and say we are noob haters. Everyone was a noob once, and all the officers, IMO, recognize that fact. |

first of all, friday night or wednesday night is not an LSS event. Don't associate the two.
secondly, just stay here and hang out and it will all resolve itself given time. However, I personally don't want to join TAMSCC or donate money since i will not be in the area much longer. just leave this subject alone TAMSCC'ers. Y'all coming over here and whining isn't really helping y'alls situation in my book. drop it.

agreeing with 86sleepers comment... wednesday and friday nights are NOT LSS meets. hell, i think ive been out to sonic maybe like 3 times this school year, and never out on wednesday night. the only person from LSS who has is 86sleeper i believe. this BBQ will be the first event LSS has had in 2 years because we've been really slow and too busy with personal stuff to get the site back up and running. but now we're back. we'll be having meets more often if this bbq is successful, which it appears it will be. i guarantee that if you were to come out to our bbq, you would get nothing but kindness from myself and any other people from LSS (unless they already have some grudge against you from TAMSCC which i know nothing about, nor can control, nor would it have anything to do with LSS). as far as coming out to your meets... it sounds like MOST of those you mentioned were for club members only, or noobs who are willing to pay to get into the club at that meet. besides, you shouldnt have specific meets set aside to make people feel welcome at those meets. it should be a priority at EVERY meet. wait, not necessarily a priority. let me rephrase that... an UNCONCIOUS (spelling?) ACTION. being nice isnt something you should have to try to do. it should be something you do without even noticing. when we used to go out to the track every wednesday in SA back in the day, we had plenty of LSS noobs come out there all the time to race with us. there was plenty of time to make the noobs feel welcome before racing, inbetween runs, and after you made all your runs. i mean, its common courtesy and common sense, really. i mean, do you want someone showing up to your meets all the time, and representing your club if you barely know them? hell no. everyone who wishes to be a part of LSS, i want to be friends with. i want to know about them, who they are. not just their name, but really know who they are. i mean, to me, there are two kinds of car clubs. 1) clubs where people join to meet other people with a common interest. 2) clubs where you can show off that you're in it, or try to prove your worth. LSS is the first one. notice i said TO MEET OTHER PEOPLE. thats what this club is based on. not based on showing your car off, or trying to be the fastest. its not competition. leave the competition to the ricer street racers. clubs are about having fun, meeting people, networking. i just didnt see much of that with my limited experience with the group. im just saying that i cant think of one single meet that LSS has had when making people feel welcome was a problem or hinderance. just to let you know, im not trying to be a dick, in fact, im more so explaining what i perceive the club's problems to be. you should take this more as input to you, something yall could talk about at an officer meet or whatever. try to determine where the problem lies, and if my incident was a individual occurance, or if this is the basic feeling of all TAMSCC critics. and also as mike said, i agree that this is doing nothing but making yall look worse, carrying this on on LSS. would be better if you PM me if you would like to talk further about the matter.

Just to clear one last point up and then I will stop posting. All of our events are free for anyone to attend, member or not. You DO NOT have to be a club member to come to any meeting, get together, event, whatever. The only time you are required to be a member is to run for an officer position. We do like it when people become members, but there is no requirement. We like to think there are advantages to being a member, however. If you already knew this, great! If not, I hope this helps. |
