Wanting opinions

Out of curiosity, I was wondering what yall think of and have heard about the Texas A&M Sports Car Club (TAMSCC) I know a few of you here have attended events with them before.

I'm no longer a member for personal reasons. Their events are a lot of fun, just so long as you know who to avoid. I know there's at least one person here who knows what I mean by that.

this is too hard to gripe about on the net. if you are part of the club and think it is cool, then you will only be offended with what i have to say.

well no, you cant offend me because i know you wont be talking about me. this thread is about how people feel about the club, so id like to hear it. from a non-member point of view. although i am sure the view from non-members is completely skewed because of the member(s) for which everyone in the club does not like it, and the reason why kat, will, and josh quit.

Kat, it's good to see that you're still concerned about TAMSCC's reputation, but why bother after quitting? Didn't you want to eliminate the one source of unecessary stress in your life by severing ties with our officers and some of it's members?

You guys are more than welcome to share your opinions with me (privately or publicly). I've gotten used to wading knee deep in shit in the past so I highly doubt you'll offend me now

Pranav, you're a good man. I started this thread to kind of ease my mind about all of this, as I've been accused of making up the bad rep this club has.

With posts like these I fail to see how it's the officers' fault for the club's "bad reputation"

Just so you know, if I were the organizer, I'd have asked you to bring your 'Stang, as it puts ours (mine and the 6er) to shame with its throttle body spacer and pretty brakes

Wow, what a Chad move. Note that each of my posts was a valid complaint about an officer's oversight.

Also, I would think it would be pretty important to you to research the reasoning behind the other's posts...The rep is there for a reason, people have heard these things for a reason. It may not be the direct fault of the officers as a whole, but they are the group responsible for the club. As an officer, you coming in here and telling us it's our fault for the bad rep makes you, and consequentially the club, look really bad. If I were in your shoes, instead of sitting on a high horse and blaming us, I would be humble (hey, kind of like when I started this tread) and just ask people what they've heard, and then do my best to explain my side.

Here is my personal experience with the club. I really did not get to meet everybody but still they would talk down on me and my car. Calling it a pos, walking time bomb and talking down on me because I chose to mod it and not leave it stock. Just seemed to me more members where negative then positive. Which I should expect considering most of the members get everything handed to them by their parents. Which I guess that makes then feel like they need to put others down. I paid in full my car and every mod on my car and dont know why spolied kids act like they are cool and a bada$$$. I could really careless though they will have a reality check one day in the real world.

i completely agree with this statement 100%. im sure kat will agree. and pranav should agree. but the deal is you have to get over it. the 1 or 2 assholes in the club get off on doing that because they have no life. before someone else says it, you have to get some thicker skin. otherwise you may not make it in the real world. there are assholes like them everywhere. the member that talks the most shit and creates the bad image for the club will do this to everybody. if you bought an Enzo, he would laugh cause you paid to much, then procede to tell you how much better his shitty Formula is. id like to apologize for these members for giving our great club such a bad image. I am sure if you joined and went to events and mettings your opinions will change.

werd. exactly my reasonings. there are too many people there who judge how "cool" you are on how fast your car is or whatever. if you're not fast, some of them either will talk down to you, or simply not talk to you at all. if i were to join a car club, im doing it for a hobby's sake. which means i should be having fun. my idea of having fun does NOT entail being put down about what i have, or listening to other peoples' bragging. if i want to know what your mommy bought you, i would have asked. you know?

which is why this site (LSS) is bad ass. we could care less what is on your car or whatever, just as long as you enjoy your car and are a mustang enthusiast.

my complaints go further than just one member. Maybe i am just too different and you can call me crazy, but I felt like I was hanging out with the computer club kids that used to get made fun of all the time and now they are in charge of a car club giving them the confidence to be douche bags by making lame azz comments. Not the crowd I choose to hang out with. I join a car club for the hobby and to be surrounded by other enthusiasts that can actually provide interesting stories as well as aged insight. When the "sports car" is put back into the club I may rethink it all. However, the automotive discount is a big plus for the club.
