    Warrenty & flashing the cpu

    Hello mustang enthusiast.

I was planning on purchasing a tuner from Americanmuscle. This one particular SCT SF3 Power Flash Mustang Strategy Tuner (96-09) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!. The thing is I purchased a warranty I was planning on doing bolts on so if I ever have to take it in to the shop, I can just take them off. Later on down the road I read that my car will turn into "limp" mode or "fail safe mode", if I were to throw on a air intake. So I was planning on buying this tuner. I was curious if the mechanic would be able to tell that the Computer was flashed.

    What are yalls thoughts?

Nice to be on the forum!

Nope. When you buy a hand held tuner and flash a tune it will store your stock tune file. Before you go to the stealership you can re flash to the stock file.

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you weren’t a racist, you’d better vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.

If your going to keep the tune on the car when you take it make sure that you let the dealership know NOT to touch your tune. sometimes they will do TSB and other bs that reflashes the computer and changes your strategy code. If they do your car will be fucked

Same here. Ive never removed mine, and didnt get any hassles over it the one time I took my car in to Ford.

Good Point! When I took mine into the dealership I told them that it had a custom tune and not to mess with it, so they left it alone.

I told them every mod on my car. Never had an issue about warranty. They need to prove the mod caused the failure if they want to hassle you about it.

A lot of interesting post here guys. So if I do mod my car they have to prove that the modification caused the problems. Sounds good to me and thank you for the advice. Do any of yall have ever heard of the Mastertech warranty or ever had this kind of warranty?

    MasterTECH - Welcome

If everything goes well, I am planning on getting intake and exhaust also under drive pulleys.

Kind of depends on the dealership, too. Some can be a real pita about any little mod, but most around here are pretty reasonable.
