If I knew that I would be working at an alignment shop LOL
They do. I think for the most part they use the rear wheels as a reference in some way. There are things to check for and measure as well. In some cases, they have some kind of shims to make rear wheel adjustments. All I really know is there is more to it than setting caster camber and toe

Well, not to be all keyboard commando, but I do alignments, and a 4 wheel align is just not your every day alignment for Mustang or any vehicle that is rear wheel drive and has a solid rear axle.

Shimming it will only move caster some, but nothing of any significance much less improvements. Plus, it does nothing for rear toe, which unless the rear end is bent, should be fine.

when I worked at Arts in SA, when they did alignments, they used all 4 heads, every time on every vehicle that they did an alignment on. Thank god I wasnt the one doing the alignments. Ive done many suspension repairs though.

Using all 4 sensors on a RWD vehicle will only give you the thrust angle. The only info that gives you is whether the axle is cockeyed or not.

Damb John sorry to hear about the car. Another shining example of why I dont drive mine in the rain. Glad your OK and the car is repairable.
Darren is an excellent choice for the body work. As for the Mechanical part Id say have a FORD dealership look at it since her insurance is paying for it.

If the cover is not ripped, it should not be that big of a deal to fix. I do know the '99-'04s rear covers do have a tendancy to rip when they are hit low in the center.
Thanks for the offer. I'll contact you after I get back from Houston... Maybe as early as Friday morning. I haven't had much of a chance to look under the car since the accident but I'll be getting in her today and will deffinantly check things out before I head to Houston in it.
Maybe we can figure out a way to get some aftermarket exhaust on her in the process. I suppose the insurance carrier isn't going to pay for that but I can cover the difference or something like that.

I could check the underside, measure stuff, look for dammaged components etc. If it all checks out/gets replaced and takes a 4 wheel alignment ok, its done. Or you can have Sonic Blue do the mechanical and alignment.
I would really like you to do the paint work from all the good things I've heard about you and your work. Besides, I may just go ahead and get that black sticker on the hood painted while it's in there.

The insurance will pay for the exhaust that is on there (stock I assume) After market exhaust might be less so you will come out ahead if it is. The stripes arent a problem

dude that fuckin sucks! Hopefully its not too major. But a big +1 to takin it to a dealership. Since its not on your dollar might as well have it done right. At least to get the mechanical stuff all ok'ed.

I'll be calling you soon to set up a time to drop it off for paint repairs.

What does everyone think 'bout which part to get done first? The mechanical checks at a dealership or the paint work? I drove all the way to Houston and nothing seemed broken but I think one or both of the rear shocks may be busted... I could get those repaired/replaced at a dealership...

I'd get the mechanical stuff done first, just incase something happens at the mechanics shop and something gets scratched
