Weird holes on the side of the map lights

On my 08 there are some weird holes that kind of look like tiny speakers or microphones on the map light housing. What are these crazy lil things? I am affraid someone might be listening to me sing along with the radio

Roll your windows down, cover the holes with tape, get out of the car, close the door, lock it with the remote, then start sticking your hands inside.
When the alarms don't go off, you'll know for sure!
