Well at least I wasn't driving it...
I went to install the new quadrant today, and noticed the cable looking a little worse for wear. I just can't win with this car. Oh, and my UPR adjustable quadrant stripped out (piece of crap), so I get to buy a new one of those too. Damn clutch crap.

It's got about 30,000 miles on it. I'm really not sure what caused it...

Is that the OEM cable? What pressure plate are you using? I have never seen an aftermarket quadrant take a crap.

It's an OEM cable out of a 99 Cobra. I've got about 50 miles on the new clutch/pressure plate (Spec Stage III), so I doubt that's when it started to fray. It's on the pedal side, and there's nowhere it rubs...I dunno what caused it. And I meant to say the firewall adjuster, not quadrant. The quadrant is fine.

The culprit was the quadrant. It's really hard to photograph, but there was a high point that rubbed the cable until it frayed. Further proof that it's better to spend the extra $$ for quality parts; this UPR quadrant cost me $80 for a new cable, plus having to buy a new adjuster and quadrant. I'm doing it right this time - going with Steeda. And I'm never buying from UPR again.

Wow. I use a steeda quad with a OEM cable with no problems.

I now have an OEM cable with the Steeda quad and adjuster. It's awesome. Now I need to replace my Ujoints. It just doesn't end does it?
