went to the track. little dissapointed

time was 13.32 @ 106 w/1.90 60ft .520 r/t
13.3s consecutively except when I missed 4th and ran 13.54 @95
the car was pinging, and running over rich as always so this f*cker needs a tune. I should be running alot better than that! 3685 lbs with me in it.

Thoughts...how about...if a blown car is pinging, let off the gas and get a tune before you blow something up!!!

why your foot is off the pedal, order a LMAF and a set of 42lb injectors, then go get a tune. The LMAF and 42's is such a common combo, your tune should be dead on. Plus you have a little more room to grow.

Total noob question but isn't pinging another way of saying detonation? And if thats the case doesn't that happen when you run lean and not rich?

That is the most common cause, but not the only one.

Detonation is uncontrolled burning in the chamber. Among other causes, it can be cause by too much ignition timing advance, not enough octane, too much boost (generic term for too much cylinder pressure), or too hot a spark plug heat range even if the car is too rich...

yeah I talked to some guys at the track and they said Lethal Performance now has the software to tune SCT chips. so that's where I'll be going. water/meth injection is on the way from Snow already.

yeah there's too much timing, and I'll be switching to the TR7s. have an a/f gauge and it's pegged rich. the detonation is intermitent. it started after the 2nd run. air charge too hot. can't put an intercooler on so water/meth is coming.

If it is pegged rich, the sensor might be faulty. Are you blowing a big plume of rich smoke?

yes. the car is also throwing over rich codes for both banks. the tune was not optimal from the start. I bought the car modded already. so I'm working out the kinks.

an a/f guage doesnt read how lean or rich you are if its tapped off of the 02 sensor. Its a gimic. I know, i have one. If you have a wideband, you will see. You may not be running rich at all and it is no wonder you have a blown cobra in the 13s. You are about to have a blown blown cobra

LTs can mess up your reading and codes

it's an AEM wide band. running rich. I'm not running the FMB because it pegs the fuel psi to over 100lb, but even with the BAP maxed it still pings. two cans of torco & no ping at all. too much timing. called Dean at PSI today to setup a dyno run to get #s but they're booked. he said he may call if there is a cancellation. if this thing blows, then an iron block and forged internals are going in. not like losing the motor is the end of the world. it's incentive to make a murderer. thanks for the opinions.

that would be like the FMB correct? Fuel Managment Booster as KB calls it. No, that's disconnected because with the fuel pump I'm running it just pegs fuel psi (after regulator) past 100lbs. I really don't even us the BAP because it's not needed. it just needs a tune and I need to stop being a lazy ass! I'm going to sit down with Dean and see if he can guide me in the right direction.

A wideband IS an 02 sensor. It is a wideband sensor. You are correct in that the air/fuel kits that read from the stock 02 sensor are pretty worthless in that the factory sensors are narrowband sensors and only really tell you if you are in or out of range.

by "the 02 sensor" you can make the assumption i am talking about the stock o2 sensor.

I know how they work. and you will get bs readings whether in open loop or closed loop. One thing good about it is that you can tell if your car is getting stuck in open or closed loop.
