Thumbs down Westway Ford in Irving

BAIT & SWITCH
Is this just a "ploy" to get customers on the lot? Is there any legislation
regarding bait & switch? I have my reasons:
In Tuesday's car ads there was an 08 F150 with the following-5.4, air, auto, cruise & a towing package for $17,988.I have been seriously thinking about getting a bigger truck so as to haul my
car to the different car shows in other states. My current truck is an
07 Ford XL with a V6. Anyway, I called the dealership and spoke to the
sales manager. He told me that he had 2 trucks on the lot in that price with
the above mentioned accessories & large 5.4 engine. I told him that I would
arrive at his store in 30 minutes with my truck title and $$ to do a deal. I
also told him that I was not in the mood for any games....he assured me that
the trucks would be there for my chosing. I arrived and guess what!!! No
truck, he came out and apologized and said that there was a mix up but he would
take care of the matter...he then tried to sell me a 4.6 with out a towing
package for 2 grand more. I told him he had
24 hours to find me a truck that he advertised. Now I'm wondering just what
process do I need to go through. I'm pretty sure I caught the guy in the
bait & switch routine. I know that he will not follow through with his "word"
on the truck.
I do want to make sure that this is not a standard operation for this
dealership.
What are your recommendations? By the way, it was Westway Ford, in Irving.
I've been told by a friend that they are not reputable.

id tell him
"im NOT going to kick you in the nuts."

then kick him in the nuts and ask
"it doesnt feel good getting lied to, does it?"

sorry, man. seriously, i dont know how much legally you have to stand on, but word of mouth can help to ruin his chances of doing that stuff again. hope it works out for ya.

i had the same problem when i was looking for my gt. do they show a stock number in the ad? if so thats the only one they have to sell for that price. If they have that car/truck they should sell it for advertised price. but if its sold then you really dont have a leg to stand on. Southway ford did that to me twice. i asked if they had the car they said yes and i went and it "dispeared" Well they wasted my time, so i wasted theirs. They had a shelby gt (dealer markup version) for like 40k. i told them ill take it. went into financing and everything and then said oops i lost my check book for the down payment and left. Went to Jordan ford where they dont play games and bought my baby that same day.

This practice is common at a lot of car lots. I tried to buy an 07 Expedition fully loaded at a good price. By the time we got there they said that it was sold not on that day but the day before. They would be glad to show me another truck.

That was funny BigJnSA.

I don't think there is anything you can do. If you notice on a majority of those type (paper mailout ads) they have a fine print on the ad...typically at the bottom that states that they can retract any of these prices should there be an error.

It's totally BS, but I have been in some marketing for commercial businesses and it happens all the time.

Check around on the ad...you'll probably see it.

If your still looking for a deal on a new ford, pm some of the guys at 5star on dfwstangs. I got hooked up pretty good by skip, but not sure who is still there.
