What Is The 3 valve's max HP?

What Is the MAX HP of a stock 3 valve? And from there what is the next weakest link?

Most people say the rods are only dependable to 450 rwhp or 500 crank. I've seen a few people that have gotten lucky at higher levels but most over 500 had had to rebuild.

rods are safe up to about 450 rwhp after that your livving on borrowed time .. i personaly made 550 + rwhp for about 6 months but when it turned it up to 600 rwhp on the dyno it snaped three rods first time down the track.

Did you do anything to the engine or leave it stock while maintaining 550 hp?

Disregard last. Evidently staying awake for 32 hours is starting to catch up. THR was going to tune my car somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-520. I think they may cut it back to just under 500 just to be safe...

You may want to converse with Code3GT on that one. Based on what you are asking, he'll have quite a bit of experience in that department. Texas Hot Rods also has a ton of experience in that department as well.

doubt you will find anyone in the southern half of the country whos done more three valve stuff then us.

the stock block can take anything you are going to throw at it from a botl on blower or turbo kit

its capable of 800 rwhp no problems

IF you want a bit of peace of mind run a teksid cobra block or the cast iron block but you will need adaptor plates to do so for the motor mounts.

the stock crank plus good rods pistons in a stock block is plenty for 550-600 rwhp

if you plan to go above that or above 6800 rpm then go with a forged crank also

our shop 06 has been 9.98 shifting at 8500 rpm with a novi 2000 blower.

What do good rods and pistons go for? If you can tell me total cost including labor, I would greatly appreciate it. From what I was told, the HP was going to be in the neighborhood of 500-525 but was going to be knocked back to just below 500 so that I hopefully wont experience problems...

we just had a customer throw two rods off a conservatively tuned 3 valve stock long block at 480 rwhp

anything passed 450 is a roll of the dice some live some don't

Yeah I would like a price on rods and pistons and most likely a crank . would a cobra crank be the best or eagle? I will also need cams and heads and headers. You run the stage 4 cam in your stang ? How would that cam be on the street? Oh and I want water methanol injection!!!

for our 900 horse short block same thin we run in our shop car that is capable of 900 horsepower and 8500 rpm your looking at 3695

for the stock crank but h beam rod forged piston 600 horse 6800 rpm short block you are looking at 3194 basicly you just save the cost of the cobra crank 499.00

extra cost options include studs, arp bolts, bluprinted oil pump, iron, or aluminum block, porting etc.
