What a difference.

So I changed the plugs Sunday afternoon. When I pulled the old ones, I thought, "these dont look too bad..." But after driving with the new ones, WOW, what a difference... Cant wait to get the new wires on tomorrow.

It can be amazing what new plugs and wires can do. I need to do that myself.

It really does make a difference! After we changed them in Johns old Grand Prix I was shocked at the changes! We really need to go over that 01 and freshen it up a bit.

Predetonation detonation is bad. You DO want to detonate the gas at the proper time though...

How many miles were on your car when you swapped the plugs? Mine has over 100k and I don't know if they've ever been changed...

I would change them every 30-50k. The maintenance manual for ford calls for them to be changed at 100k though. They are cheap and an easy way to keep the car running nicely though.

NGK TR-6 are the way to go, one range colder than stock. Or if you want to keep the stock heat range, NGK TR55.

Bennie at The Hot Rod Store keeps them in stock.

All the newer model cars use the platinum long life plug that will go 100k miles before they need changing. I have always used copper autolites in my small block fords and havent found anything better. Copper is a better conductor of electricity than platinum, therefore you may gain a hair more HP but have to change them out more often.

The car has just over 100k miles on it, but Im not the original owner, so theres no telling when was the last time they were changed...

I used the stock Motorcraft plugs.
