What are the 99-04 models called?

Why are the 87-93 Mustangs are called "foxes"? Where did the "fox body" designation come from?

What about the 94-98 ones? Where did the "SN95" term come from?

What about the 99-04's? What are they called?

[Insert Jeopardy tune here]

Edit: Got the wrong year on the SN95 and the "4th Gen?" groups.

if memory serves me correctly, the platform for the 79-86 was the "fox3". 87-93 was the "fox4", which was basically the same thing, but stiffer.

sn95 was the designation for the '94-'04, and i don't remember for sure, but the '05+ is on the full size sedan chassis but chopped down some and may be known as dew98. i think in '99 with the body change they stiffened up the front and did away with the strut tower brace. i think the '94+ tq boxes are a bit stronger from factory, too. don't call me on that though.

00-04? the new body came in 1999, and they are all called "better looking than those lima bean 94-98's", or "BLTTLB's".

if i'm wrong, feel free to correct me guys. also, i forgot what the letter stand for as well.

The 99-04 are still known as SN95s as it uses the same plaatform as the 94-98s

The 05 uses a "modified" DEW98 platform (Lincoln) which is being called the S197.

I have heard the 99-04's refered to as New Edge Mustangs because that is how Ford refered to their styling. The most common designation is simply 99 plus.

They are actually on the same platform that mustangs have used since 79. The body style has been the major change.
