I have heard the metal ones get hot, which means not so cold of air.

A replacement K&N filter (about $45) and remove the silencer (free), probably the best bang for the buck.

my metal MAC doesn't seem to get hot. as for the stock location or JLT ra, think about it. the filter is sitting under the hood sucking in HOT engine air. drive your car and pop the hood. it doesn't feel like A/C. if stock location is what you want, stay with stock. IT has a plastic peace pulling the air from the fender so just put a K&N in there and be done with it. As for running lean in the the tb and upper plenum thats due to,,,,, more air.
I have had no problems with my MAC and it has a 95mm MAF hooked to it. MY gas millage went up too!

Question

Anyone here use AEM? I installed a fender kit on my buddie's Tib and it made a huge difference. The only one I see available for my year is the brute force and it locates the filter in stock location from what I can see. I know it's metal and shiny, but I know it worked well on the Tib. I have the Roush now and have considered replacing it, but I most likely won't. I was just curious if anyone has used it.

I don't know what some of you are talking about as far as intake tube temps are concerned with "underhood cai's".
I drilled a hole in my JLT and found a small thermometer you'd normally use for checking the temperature of something like a turkey when you're cooking it in the oven to put in the hole to monitor temperatures.

On average, my intake charge temps are around 72 degrees.

Simple.
Get the one you want. Get it for looks, function or both. either way you should get an improvement.

Putting one on a Tib makes a HUGE difference. On a Stang it wouldn't be near the same. I had a Tib before i had the Stang, the tibs intake setup is so jacked that in stock form it's a major restriction that the Stang doesn't have.

If you're friend doesn't already know about it, tell him to check out NewTiburon.com . I used to be an admin on there and that place is a wealth of information for the GK platform.

It's a little snorkel looking thing that goes from your air filter housing into the fenderwell. If it's not there and the filter is exposed, then it's already gone. That's how mine was when I got it with the K&N. I hope that explains it and I'm not talking about the wrong thing...
