What could be keeping my car from starting?

Thanks to everyone who gave me advise about my detonation problem. But before I can fix that, I have to get the car running again. I thought I'd have it running by now, but I haven't figured it out yet.

When I turn the key, everything(radio, door chime, etc) turns off as if the car is going to turn over. But then nothing happens. Nothing at all. The starter doesn't attempt to turn and I don't hear any indication that the solenoid is stuck.(On my '88s, when the solenoid went out, it made a loud click). The car doesn't make any noise at all

The car has power, infact I bought a new battery yesterday.

My first thought was the clutch switch, so I replaced it. Didn't help.

Has anyone else had this problem before? The car never gave any indication that something was wrong. The last time it ran, it started fine. I parked it, lifted it up, changing the rear coil springs, and put it back on the ground. And it won't run.

Could this be the key ignition itself? Is there anyway to figure this out?

I can change transmissions, engines, etc, but electronics are my weakness. How can I figure out where my problem is?

Thanks.

I meant to include that in my original post. I checked it and it was fine. Tried to push it just to be sure though.

I can hear the fuel pump working. Besides, if that were it, the car would attempt to turn over. My car doesn't even try to turn over. As soon as the key is turned, nothing.

Try replacing the ignition switch. Common problem and they are dirt cheap.

try tapping on the starter solenoid before going out and buying stuff.
fuel cutoff would be my next thing to ck, but you said its good, so id move on to the ignition switch.

Take a screw driver and jump the soleniod. Touch the big lead from the Batt to the 1st small terminal on the soleniod if the car turns over the soleniod is bad. If it doesnt crank then the soleniod is out or the starter is bad.
My money is on the soleniod

I tried this. I looked around the car for a while looking for the solenoid on the inner fender. And when I didn't find it, I remembered something about them being moved in 1994. So I called a friend who reminded me that Ford began heaily using drugs in 1994 and placed the solenoid on the freakin' starter itself rather than the fender where it can easily be reached and replaced. Then I spent quite a while trying to get a small screw driver to the solenoid past my Mac longtube headers. It took me while to realize that it wasn't going to happen before I gave up.

Anyone want to buy a 1994 GT, cheap? I want a Fox body again.

If everything powers up when the key is turned to the run position and then everything goes off when turned to the start position you have a bad connection in the starting circuit, a bad wire in the starting circuit, or a bad ignition switch. If all of that is ok you may have a shorted starter/solenoid.

pop the starter off.....put a power source to it...the gear spins starter is good if not start no good...what i had to do when my starter acting on me...starter was good in my case...rule out the starter right there...then i'd try ignition switch.

TQ/448 at the fly- 501 est. loss 12% to get it to the ground
Made that with a Novi 1000.......getting the Novi 2000 since the 1000 went to crap.....same boost level but hopefully car pull stronger down low in the RPM band with a larger and more efficient blower.
