any all motor 4.6 or 5.0 will do better with 4.10s or higher if the RPM capabilities can support it.

which basically means if you wanna run 4.10s and get the most out of them, you probably wanna upgrade your valve springs(dont want valve float high in the rpms).

How much do you drive the car? I went with 3.73's, and it is barely tolerable at 70 on long trips. Forget about cruising any faster than that.

y'all seem a little scared of some gear.

on my 2000 v6 5spd (which didn't rev very high) i had 4.10's and thought them perfect. i think 4.30's would have been too much.

i have only heard that the 4.6 can handle more gear than the 5.0s/3.8s. <--nothing credible, just the opinions of several people. this is making me lean towards 4.30's.

on my 2000 gt 5spd, i'm still undecided. it'll either be 4.10's or 4.30's though.

I went with 3.73's because I mistakenly thought I would someday have the cash to put a KB on the car.. 2 years later and no KB in sight, I wish I had gone with the 4.10's..

3.73s already make hard for me to get hooked and I'm running 275mm tires out back. Race it 4.10s, cruise it with pep 3.73.

What size tires you running? With stock tires and 3.73's on your t45 in 5th you should be at 2,289, with 4.10's it would jump to 2519.

For this guy, in his 03 (3650) 3.73's at 70 would put him at 2,118, 4.10's would put him at 2,329. That's not bad at all.

I havent noticed that much of a difference in my gas mileage since switching from 3.73s to 4.10s...

In my opinion, any minor drop in gas mileage is outweighed by the "fun factor" the 4.10s provide.

when i hear this question, i always say:

think of what your projected power will be and what speed you want to cross the finish line and at what RPM/gear, that'll be the deciding factor on gear ratio. there are several calculators online that'll help you determine the best ratio based off trap speed/hp.

EG: 350hp car trapping just over 100mph is fine with 4.10s in 4th gear, maybe even 4.30s since the mod motors can rev higher than pushrods...

500hp car trapping 120+mph, 4.10/4.30 could be too much gear for that mph in 4th's top end, unless you've got a .80 5th gear(like in a 6 speed)

of course, if you have 4.10/4.30 right now and arent making much power... it could be beneficial in the short run, then if you step up with a power adder, a way to effectively lengthen your gears without changing the ring & pinion is by throwing some 28" tires under it, if your suspension will allow that.

i got 3.90s in my fox. they're great NA, but on the spray.. its cutting it close. im thinking about dropping back to 3.55 again. its a trade off.

If you are DDing the car go with 3.73s

If its only going to the track and down the stripe, Go with 4.10s they are fun but you lose some on the highway.

I had 4.10s in my 89 Hatch and have 3.73 in my Vert, the vert is mostly for cruising.....

But since the Mod motors can handle more Rev, go with the 4.10s........

when do you plan to go turbo? just asking, because i'd look into getting highway gears if you want to get the most out of it.
