What hardware attachment would allow me to do this?

Well my Shift light was here:

But now the plastic holder has expanded and contracted so much from heat that it has become inoperable. My idea is to bore a hole in the shifter bezel and flush mount the light on the opposite side of the 12v power supply. It will look great if I do it correctly(also Iv never seen this done in another mustang).

What piece of hardware will allow me to attach a cylindrical object perpendicular to the mounting surface without using a drill screw? I know they make hexagonal nuts that screw through a bored hole but that will not hold the light in place as well. Does anyone know what I could use?

The picture shown is just a random google pic. the red dot shows the approximate location of what I want to do.. it will be centered and matched up with the 12v source though..dont worry lol.

Don't know about how to mount it, but are you sure if there is enough room behind it to allow mounting it there? I mean with the metal bracket that goes behind there I don't think it would sit right.

I have one of those plastic things if you want it. Never been used. I mounted mine using velcro tape to the steering base so it would not be in the way of any other gauges.

Its gonna be close, I think it will. A raptor shift light isnt to much longer than the 12v power source, well its about double. We shall see, its worth trying tho if I can get the hardware. I thing im gonna have to get MacGyver on some metal.

Have you ever seen a raptor shift light go off? Proble not... cause if its directly in your face you go blind lol. You can see it.

I have an idea of how to do it with some cardboard superglued to the shiftlight then 3m taped to the back of the panel, but id rather have more of an ajustable solution.

The shift light is maybe 3" or so, not much longer than that. Im not sure how much room is behind it, IIRC it just opens up to the back of the firewall area. If there is a bracket in the way I will just notch it most likely.

EDIT: Just pulled the trim piece, should have JUST ENOUGH room, its gonna be close. All I need to do is cut out a little insulation and im good to go.

duct tape and zip ties, lmao. idk what you could secure the light to being theres not alot of room behind the shifter bezel, or you could just disgaurd the cig lighter and house it there just so you dont have any other holes in your car. kind of like i did to wire in my fog lights, but in your case your shift light

I bet you could buy one of those cig lighters from autzone, and pop the bezel off it, slide up onto the raptor, and slide the raptor into the hole you cut out on that console piece. Probably would need to super glue the bezel to the raptor light though.

+1 that actually sounds like a great idea that would work.

The lighter Idea is the best so far. I was thinking that as well. However I dont see it being much good way down there. Ive never felt the need for a light to tell me when to shift I just use my ears and the SOPM seems to work so far.

i say you use a cig lighter bezel... if it's not big enough, cut a slot in it to make it expand around the light... bore a hole in the panel with a step bit, once it fits, use a hose clamp from behind to hold it in place... the lip on the bezel should hold it in place...
