You can use a long tube header on them . You just need to get the right angle boots for the spark plug wires or using a shorty plug like the accel shorties will work too .

So what engine do you have? In '94 Saleen started using 351s they did not have an option for a 5.0. As for the headers I have looked for headers for P heads and have found MAC, Ford and there are a few others, I have done a few searches lately for different headers including headers for P heads.

I don't want a LARGE Farva...

i ran P heads in my '89, ran BBK 1 5/8" long tubes with taylor 90 degree wires. worked like a champ. the downside is spark plug changes. good luck with a regular socket. the only solution i found was cutting down a spark plug socket and tapering one of the rear edges, then using a 19mm (pretty sure it was 19) wrench to change plugs. once i figured that out, plug changes were a piece of cake.
![]() ![]() here's a rough idea of how to cut down a spark plug socket. I believe there are short sockets made for the LS1 engines that will work for this application, but if i remember correct, they're ridiculously priced.

notice, long tubes burnt up my stock starter. a strong mini-starter wrapped in heat shielding should be all you need.
let me know if there's anything else i can help you with. also, check out xplicitperformance.com. its a houston-based forum. a guy i used to know, Dru, runs the forums and goes by the screen name of Xplicitperformance on there. I don't know if he still does, but he used to run a ported set of P heads on his fox and topped it off with nitrous too. he's a great source of info as well. he and I would often talk P-head tech. |
