What's the diff..

..erence between H&R Sport springs and H&R Race springs?? (other than the obvious names..)

Difference in ride height?
Difference in handling?
Difference in stiffness?

If anyone has pics of said springs on a 99-04 with 17" wheels, post up!

My cobra has H&R Sport Springs on it and the ride quality feels like it is still stock, I will post a pic of it but I have 18 inch wheels.

Mine has H&R Race Springs. Ride is a little on the harsh side, but it also has all poly up front which Im sure adds to it.

Im very suprised you say it is harsh. I wonder if that is because of the solid axle vs the IRS. hmm My wifes 04 ride quality is nice. Of course I had to roll the fenders. And the car has 28k on it.

Mine has an IRS from an 01 installed. I know the 03/04 IRS is a better set up but Im not sure if that would account for ride quality.

What makes one "race" and the other "sport" ?

I was once told that the "race" springs have a little more "flex" (for lack of a better term) when you launch hard. Like they allow more weight transfer?

I dunno, tho.

Thanks for the info so far!

I think it would be the opposite. I think H&R is more of a manufacturer of springs for handling than drag racing. So the race springs would be stiffer and less felxible reducing roll at the expense of ride comfort. Here is a link I found with spring rates. You can see that the race springs are much stiffer than the sport rates. The sports are also progressive which adds to ride comfort

Sports are gonna drop it about 2" compared to the race springs at about 1.5". I went with the race springs and didn't have to roll my fendors. Do a search on svtperformance.com, you'll have all your questions answered.

The only reason I had to roll my fenders was because of the wheel and BS I choose. Otherwise your good.

not to be rude, but maybe you should call them to find out. the 'race' will obviously be stiffer, worse for ride, and probably not benefit you without a set of matching shocks anyways.

Not rude at all.
I just wanted to be lazy and post up on here and a couple other places before having to actually speak to someone who would have a 100% correct answer and details.
..which doesn't make sense at all, but, whatever.

I'll probably end up calling them anyways.

I want a spring that will lower the car 1.5" at the MOST. I don't want such a harsh ride, that it makes a crack in the pavement feel like a 3 foot tall speed bump.

I had Steeda Sports on my old 03 GT, but wanted to try something different.

isnt your bullitt already droped from the factory?

i would say ford c springs, but i wanna say bullitt springs are about the same. Im gonna opt for c springs when i finally decide to let the drop happen(im scared of scraping my car on everything)

Yeah...we rolled the fenders on mine because we have 18x10's on back with 315's on them. The tires didn't rub all the time it was only if there was more than one person in the car while you were on the highway and going over a bump or dip. Never rubbed bad enough to make an mark on the tires or on the fenders. We chose to roll them because we didn't want it to rub at all not because it was doing any damage.

If Dave is only running 17's in back then he shouldn't have a problem with the rubbing at all. But that is just my .02!

Good luck with what ever you decide to go with!

race are stiffer than SS springs and the drop is not as much with the Race.

You DO need better than stock shocks and struts with either.

if you want to go low, so SS with Bilstein HDs all the way around.
