What's wrong?

Got my car back yesterday from installing the 5.0 Stroker on my car. The thing is the car only made 422 rwhp and I was expecting a lot more than that. Heck, my car dyno'ed 428 rwhp with the Procharger @ 10lbs (I still got the same pulley). Why did I loose 6 rwhp with a built motor?

Also, the car feels really sluggish at low RPM's. Most people have told me it's because the cam but I think it's wayyyy too sluggish. Any ideas on what might be going on?

who built the motor?
How many miles have you put on it?
What heads?

I wouldn't think that you would gain too much if any with the stroker. tq curve might look better, but i don't see too many people with stellar gains out of a mod stroker.

I'm curious also. I'll wait for the mod master himself (Jody) to chime in to hear what he has to say. I'm guessing the tune isn't 100% down yet.

The motor was built by RMCR (Rocky Mountain Competition Research) Untitled Document

The engine only has around 2k miles and the heads are Patriot Stage 2 Heads P&P.

so you put a built block in, and you are making less power?

Yeah Yeah I would've gone with different heads if I was the one that bought the parts. The cams in there are VT Stage 3 Blower Cams.

LOWER COMPRESION and the fact that you have to let the motor break in break in alone could account for a 20 rwhp increase vs a totaly fresh motor.

also did you retune it ? tune could easily count for it you add biger casms bigger heads and dont tune you aren't likely to gain power.

also your boost should have droped alot with the breathing improvments you made down around 7 to 8 pounds at most and with the apropriate lower compression that means alot more ignition lead is possible.

i just finished a two valve for a customer from the valley stock cube short block lower compresion hand ported heads by kotzur our recomended cams and 8 psi from a non intercooled vortech and he made 460 rwhp at 5400 rpm wioth the 8 psi before he ran out of fuel I expect over 500 rwhp at red line arpound 11 psi when we can pull it all the way to 6200 after he comes back and does his fuel system.

Are you making the same PSI on the new setup? What is the compresion on the new setup? Was the motor running fine when it ws in your friends car? What is the AF ratip compared to the old setup? Timing?

From the looks of your older thread when you got the engine, the biggest hol backs are the stock plenum, (t-body), looks like the stock intake still, and the shorty headers.
Slap some long tubes, aluminum intake (get one of my ported plenums) change the t-body and check the tune, I bet your numbers shoot up a good bit. What is the c/r on the new engine?

Yeah, the motor is broke in already. I also did retune it with a custom tune.

The highest PSI we saw on the dyno was 10.6... I got a 10 psi pulley. A/F ratio is set around 11.4 so when I get to Texas it should be around 12.3 or so due to the change in altitude. I have no idea on where the timing or the compression in.

I also think it's on the tune.

I got a 75mm TB w/ Plenum, Thypoon intake, etc.... Like I said, no idea on the compression ratio.

Are you available this weekend? Maybe I can bring you the car by so you can take a look.
