What's your car cleaning product brand of choice? why?
Just under curiosity... and to get new cleaning ideas... Some of this stuff i never heard of until I got my '02.
Wax: since I bought my stang back in '02, I have only used 2 brands of wax. I started off using Meguiar's Gold Class. It gave some pretty good results, was a good price, and could be found at most stores. I then switched to Zaino and never looked back. Zaino has to be ordered online (hard to find locals that sell them), but the final results are second to none. I have gotten the deepest shine and longest lasting wax life (shown by excellent water bead) by using Zaino. Car Wash soap: Meguiar's Gold Class car shampoo. good stuff, can buy in large bottle, and easily found in stores. Protectants: Vinylex for the plastic parts (windshield guard, side mirror plastic, chin spoiler, dash, doors, panels. Vinylex is silicone-based, not water-based. Lexol for the leather seats. Black Magic for the tire dressing. |

i just bought the meguiars glod class wash...seems to work pretty good...after only one wash...
wax im still using meguiars three stage process...gonna switch to something else when i run out...black magic is badass for the tires...and ive used only meguiars leather wipes for my seats so no comparison to anything else as of yet... my biggest problem is hiding paint chips and getting rid of swirl marks...havent found anything that is worth while yet...short of taking it to a shop... |

Wash - Zaino same as above Tire shine - Meguires I needed a new bottle and the last stuff I had sucked so I tried the Meguires and oooh dang it looks good! Interior protectant - don't remember the name but its in a purple bottle with a neon green spray top. Stuff works like a champ Scott n Christine put me in on this secret of the cleaners Moral of the story... Zaino FTW

Or i just go to self car-wash if i have enough quarters laying around.

Im going to try using NXT for the wax when I run out of zaino. I like the results, and it does give a long lasting shine, but it's just so much effort. Other than that, NXT interior, Meg's hot shine for the tires, and some windex.

Right now, I use Meguiars Cleaner Wax (in the can, not the bottle) and it works okay. I just hate spending so much time and money cleaning it to have to park it under a tree. Next year, with the garage, I'll switch to Zaino. I wax my headlights and brake lights regularly to prevent oxidation, it really helps. This summer though I'm considering clearcoating them, depending on cost. Other favorites: Mothers Back to Black for trim, armourall wipes for mirrors/cowl panel, Nevr Dull for exhaust tips and chrome (real chrome, not the plastic stuff), Mothers Mag and Alum wheel polish for polished and unclearcoated wheels (namely Will's). I use glass cleaner on the Mach 1's; the polish is pretty hard on the coating they have.

Wash-Zaino wash, i use it because it smells good..........and it came with my zaino kit
Wax-Zaino Z-2 and Z-5 alternating with ZFX twice a year, i've gotten more compliments on this stuff than the gold class i was previously using. Its a bit pricy but if you know how to use it(rationing) its not THAT expensive, plus its SOOOOO much faster In between Z-6 does a really good job of knocking out dust between washes and if i wash but don't wax then i use it after a wash too. Plastics- meguires NXT tech protectant Windows- i use zaino on my windows tires-Meguires hot spray |

Kiss my shiney butt

the GT just got an NXT treatment plus Meguiar's Gold Class wash. If I had my stuff from home it would be:
wash: Meguiar's with a sheepskin mitt. pretty good stuff clay: Meguiar's polish: Klasse AIO. I love this stuff, even better when applied with a Porter Cable! wax: P21S. It really brought out the shine in my black mach 1. QD: Griot's Speed Shine rims and tires: Griot's Wheel Cleaner, great stuff, tires I use Meguiar's hot spray, wiped down to reduce any sling towels, I have a bunch of microfibers for drying and buffing(I have 2 big yellow ones, again, I think they're Griot's) and a bunch of cotton small towels for Quick Detailspray

Wax: I dont wax, it works great but I dont need to. I use waterless car wash and it does an amazing job. Its the real stuff not the knock off crap you can buy. Ive used it for nearly 8 years as well.
Car Wash: I dont wash my car with water ever, I had a black car and it was IMPOSSIBLE to wash with water and not get spots. If you think you can do it with your black car then you are not as picky as me lol. Now that I have a red car its 100 times easier to clean and I may start washing with water again... we will see Protectants: my DWG I use on the car cleans black chrome, windows, paint, rims, everything. The only other product I use is interior cleaner and tire shine. It keeps everything just like new. The guy that picked up my 01 was shocked at how immaculate it was, he even asked me If I painted the window wiper arms... lol nope I just never let them fade to begin with ![]() I usually clay bar my car once a year after washing it with dawn detergent (best at removing old wax/protectants) then after this I go over the car with 3m perfect it II rubbing compound if needed and then wash it with dawn yet again. After all of this I hand dry it and then proceed to apply what ever I wish to the paint. I clean the car every weekend inside and out (including motor and such) and simply dusing it during the week with removing of any bugs I happen go get keeps it clean until the weekend rolls back around. Make SURE you wax your headlights/taillights as well as the paint to keep them from fading/turning yellow.

I transferred my WashTub membership to the 'Stang when I sold my Expedition.
My paint is already all jacked up with dings, chips, and fade spots though, so I dont really care if it goes through the brushes. Plus it stays cleaner if I drive by and have them wash it 2 or 3 times during week, than if I were to spend Saturday morning doing it myself. Yeah, I'm lazy. ![]() |
