what would you do?
...if you were scheduled to work at 4:00 am, and you showed up on time, actually make that 15 minutes early. But the store you work at doesn't open untill 8:00 am, so the doors are locked untill then. So you have to rely on a manager to come unlock the doors to let you in, so that you can do the work the scheduled you to do at 4:00 am.....
BUT instead you stand out there for 45 minutes (till 4:30) and still no sign of any manager even thinking about unlocking the door, even after radioing in on a walkie left outside for such purpose. now, do you: A) keep standing out there like their little bitch and wait till they open the doors. B) go back home like you should have 15 minutes ago and enjoy a three day weekend. then return monday to bitch at them for lose of pay, and try your best to get half...if not a full day's pay since you were there at your scheduled time and the only thing that held you back from working was the fact that there wasn't anyone to let you in. as you can see, i obviously choose B, since i'm sitting here making this thread at 4:50 in the morning while i should have been at work. -jeff

Do we like this job?
I would probably just sleep in my car till 8 and hope somebody taps on the window. OR Wake those fuggers up and let them know what's going on. Its one of the hassles of being management. |

lets say you sleep - they could say that you were late to work... lets say you go home, they could say you were absent... now they have something on you.... but if you call them and wake them up, what can they say?? As a matter of fact, you could end up using that against them if you have to keep calling them time after time... You must master the ancient art of Cover Your Azz, Daniel-san...

Yep....should have stayed there at work. Someone would have shown up sooner or later. Now...you have NO proof that you even showed up for work. Should have at least left a note.

well, i'll be all good. i guess i failed to mention that at the store i transfered from in SA, they had a camera on the front doors that was on at all times. and i'm sure this one does to.
also, like i said, i used a walkie that was left outside for the purpose of asking someone to come unlock the doors, yet nobody even responded to my several calls. i would have called the store using my cell phone, but i just transfered to this store not too long ago, so i don't have the number in my cell phone, as i have not needed to call them for any reason yet. oh and i did think about sleeping in my car and waiting till someone unlocked the doors. but like i said, i'm pretty new at this store so the nobody really knows me by what car i drive yet. so i doubt anyone would notice and come wake me up. oh well, i guess we'll just see what happens monday

Hehehe Been there done that with Mc Donalds when i worked there.
They like the morning crew to show up at 5 am, and the store does not officially open till 7am. Well i showed up at 5 with half of my morning crew, and we waited till about 7 15 with no sign of a manager (only reason we waited so long is cuz we were screwing around having fun) Cars started to pull up, and we just told them we were closed lol. I left a note and got my other crew to sign in stating time it was and time we arrived, and then we all split. They screwed themselves by not waking up.

i know i would have gone back home. i've slept in my car one too many times and getting 30 minutes to an hour's worth of sweaty, uncomfortable sleep at 4:30 in the morning doesn't sound like fun to me. i think you did the right thing, but i have gone through about 6 jobs in 4 years of working in high school. :2thumbup:
