Wheel Locks

Where's a good place to get wheel locks? The set of locking lugs on the car now (bullet shaped ones) HAD a specific key needed to remove the lugs so the wheels can be removed.

Where can I get a set that isn't so generic, some shmuck can't go to PepBoys and buy a key and come jack my wheels?

no each key is different. Kinda like when you buy a house lock or a pad lock with keys

I think there are only a set # of patterns for wheel locks and it's not that high of a #... A friend of mine lost his wheel lock key at the track in FL and just went to the local vato zone and found one that matched up.

But I can't help any with where to get something harder to duplicate.

i think the autozone/pep boys have like 5-10 combos. the high quality ones like aguilarf poster have more key combos.

Shitty part about is, craftsman sells a set of sockets that you use for stripped bolts and it works on lug nuts as well. We used a set on Carol's stang when the dealership lost the key lock and didn't find out till it was to late. It takes alittle time, but you can get the lugnuts off. A buddy of mine always told me it's better to steal your rims, rather than your fully modded car.

the only way to get my key is to call the company and have it shipped to my house. ricer zone doesnt carry them(the guy at discount told me this, so i trust he knows what hes talking about)

No lock is completely fool proof, like some one mentioned you can hammer a socket over some, and some cheapie ones you can freeze and shatter. It may be a good idea to mix the types of locks. Maybe have 2 or 3 different styles, p.i.t.a when changing your tires, but it may slow them down enough so that they can get caught or meet the barrel of your gun.

Do what I did on my last car.

Buy 5 sets of locks, each with a diferent key. Then put one of each set on each wheel. You need all 5 keys to get the lugs off any one wheel.

Not very safe to have 5 locking lugs for each stud.
Reasons.....

Some you cannot torque enough due to shitty design
It's a PITA to get 5 keys X 5 lugs X 4 wheels (do the math)
You'll piss off service guys and in turn charge you more money to remove them.
And if you loose a key or strip a locking lug, your still fubar'd.

Gorilla is the way to go in locks, whats 50 bucks or less for a set of your pricey ass wheels anyway right??

BTW, if they wanna steal it, they'll steal it, locks or not. Just the locks slow them down. I have a master set that removes EVERY lock they make to date, cost me like 80 bucks from Matco, I have not had one yet that I cannot remove.
People loose locking keys all the time.
