I shift around 2k.. She gets in her powerband around 3100, so that's fun.

Redline is about 5800, I believe.

damn i'm jealous of you guys shifting at 2k and stuff... i have NO torque so if i shift at anything less than about 2800 she just sits there and shakes when i hit the gas... that's the price you pay when you have a daily driver project... trans is for the v8.. so it's geared a lot wider... and as far as redline, it's around 5k... however, it pulls up to 6

I usually shift around 3k when Im putzing. Around 6500 when Im playing rev limiter is set for 7200. Factory redline is 6800. Power comes on real good about 3k and the best power band is from ther to about 6500 after that it is really not making any more power.

During normal (granny) driving, my C4 shifts at about 1200-1400rpm, or if I want my glasspacks to sound off, at around 2800rpm. It's been known to shift as low as 1100rpm though, allowing me to cruise at ~900 in top gear. Handy for the school zones (which here is practically anything inside the loop...)

Seriously, though, if I had a manual tranny, I'd shift at about the same RPM as the C4 does; it starts to build its torque right off idle and a similarly built 4-speed '66 with 289 I drove was able to run from ~950rpm without lugging. It technically doesn't have a redline, though power drops off so fast after 4300rpm that it wouldn't make sense to push it past that. An upshift there would put it right in the meat of the power again, too.

I shift depending on the mood. When I pass a gas station and cringe, I shift like grandma, then after I pass it and say STFU, I nail it, shift at 7k rpm each gear. My red line is set to 7500 rpm ....... and I have a stock crank and rods...
