Ohnestly the AFR 225s are bigger than they ever should have been ported to begin with. They should have raised both the intake ports and exhaust ports and changed the valve angles before ever making the ports as large as they did. Basicaly I would leave them alone or look for a better set of heads, such as a pair of Edelbrock Victor 15 degree heads or possibly a pair of highly ported TFS High Ports or just get a pair of Yates heads.

The car is still street driven, with a best of 10.21 at 131 mph with a 1.51 60' spinning lightly. With this combo it made a best of 460 hp and 410 lbs of torque at the wheels.

You need to qualify statements like that they are not to big at all when put on a proper motor.

i made 1200 rwhp with afr 225 heads on a 363 turbo motor right out the box they are no where near to big for a 350 + cube motor..

they are to big for your average 331 347 however.

and they didnt move the ports around for a reason

MOST RACING CLASSES DON'T ALLOW ALTERED VALVE ANGLES OR REVISED PORT LOCATIONS

they are prety much the badest thing available for classes that require stock port locations and valve angles where a trick flow or victor head is not legal..

Unless it was a power adder engine such as blower engine and was being run in a class that limited you to stock valve angles and port locations, this is not a head I would ever recomend. I will work well on larger engines, but most of those engines are not going to be running in a class that requires stock port location and valve angles. The head flows good, but for the money and the size of the head, for 90 to 95 percent of the applications that need a head of that size I would be looking at other heads. Basicaly AFR does some very good work on their heads, but for Ford applications they only do heads that have stock port locations and valve angles, there is a lot to be gained by getting away form stock layout. If they took their knowledge and started from scratch, build a couple of heads with the cross sectional area and valve sizes that the 205 and 225 heads have raised the intake and exhaust ports, used somewhere between a 10 degree to 15 degree valve angle. I am sure they would come up with a couple of heads that would be more efficiant and would make more power than the 205 and 225 heads and the price should not be much higher than what they are selling the those heads for, but they would probably raise the price a good bit. Currently all of their Ford heads are based off of the same castings, so their cost is going to be lower. I would bet higher profit as a result of using the same castings is the reason for using that one casting and not because they are trying to cater to a few people that are limited to stock port locations and valve angles in a couple of classes.
I like the smaller 165 and 185 castings, those are very good heads for the comon EFI applications, but most people don't understand that they should increase the bore size a good bit if they are going to use a intake valve larger than a 2.02. The EFI intakes are one of the main reasons for using a head with a stock port location, most of the EFI intakes do not have as large of cross sectional area that the AFR 205 and 225 heads have, nor will the will the EFI intakes flow what the 205 and 225 heads will. Yes there are a few EFI intakes that will flow what the 205 heads flow, but I don't know of any that have the cross sectional area of the 225 or will flow what it will. I know boost hides a lot of problems, but it helps to build the engine correctly before putting boost to the engine. Most of the people that actualy need a head the size of a AFR 225 are going to use a carb style intake, when you are not limited to the runners coming in from a low angle like EFI intake do. Why not take advantage of a more efficiant head with ports that have a higher angle of entry?

Actually AFR is coming out with a totally new line of heads that do in fact have a rolled valve angle . Their new line in the 185 series are suppose to be a little better than the current 205 which is an awesome cylinder head ......

I'm sure it will work but I bet you are leaving 20-30 horse power off the table with that cam .

So you stepped up to a 418 and some better heads, the car should run a good bit faster. What year is your car? You may some trouble getting that engine in your car with a good set of headers that will be needed with a combo like that. I would like to know the rest of the specs for that cam. I is not what you should use, but I am looking to build a couple of turbo engines with solid roller cams and that cam may be a good turbo cam.

I have not seen and duration nubers yet, I said it could be a good turbo cam. With a .621 in. and .635 ex. lift and a 114 LCA solid roller grind. I would gess this is a serious blower or turbo grind.
Chis I have not heard from you in a while, I would still like to get those power glide parts and the C4 bell housing. I would also like to see the turbo cars and the wagon. If things go the way I want them to my little blue coupe may get replaced by an older and heavier four eyed ride. I am hoping the deal works.

thats a turbo grind for a car running a larger t 4 based single compressor the reason for the larger intake then exhaust duration is the higher back preasure in the exhaust on the street type setups vs a big single t-6 setup or a large t-4 twin setup.

would work very well in a turbo car runing a turbo in the t-60 to t-76 range.
