loose ground most likely. when My new shortblock was put in years ago, there was a loose ground strap on the engine block.

Yeah, I would check both your battery cables first. When I got my car back from the body shop in january it started acting all crazy and the radio kept going on and off, ABS light would flash, but the car would still run. Checked the battery and both cables weren't even tightened, they were on just enough for it to start basically.

Not the battery itself. The battery cables being tight is what I'm talking about. If they are, then check where ever they lead. If those connections are all good, then I'd guess that your alternator might be going out. You brushes and stuff in there might not be making good contact anymore, especially at the higher RPMs. Seems like that's when it has the problem. Just a guess.

Sorry Phil, I did not see this sooner... the alternator is going tits up.
It is overcharging and making the light go on. I just replaced one last week for that same reason, only happens on high rpm and heavy load. Mine just crapped out 2 days ago, same problem, only I was really over charging and it looked like a christmas light show on my dash.

Score a point for me! Can't just replace a regulator on these huh? Most alternators now a days are usually easier to just replace I guess.

oh the shits! well it runs ok at lower speeds just kinda when i punch it like i did in the video it does it...guess ill just add it to the list of "things to switch before they are teh suck!"

it does feel like there is not a lot of power when i driving on the highway...and also when the a/c is turned on. related maybe?

wouldnt Steeda underdrive pullies prevent over charging in high rpms

So you are telling me that an under drive will prevent a regulator from ever failing??
If that were the case, why do people load test alternators at ONLY 2k rpm?

that was a question. Dont get your panties in a wad.

If a high rpm over charge if the only faultiness, an underdriven pulley could in theory prevent such an issue.

Not if the regulator is bad... case in point, I had a smaller 1.5 inch pulley on mine a while back due to low amperage at idle, the pulley was to keep it spinning faster until I replaced the alternator. My old pulley would not fit the new alt. and it crapped out 2 days after I installed it (cheap remans). Then my replacement overcharged at high rpm due to the faulty voltage regulator...

And I do not wear panties... I keeps it real by going commando..

I've got a similiar problem....battery light comes on right after each start - stays on for about 3-5 minutes then turns off and stays off... post clamps, battery are all new. Connections to block and ignition are good. Not charging problems what so ever. I've had the alternator tested twice on the car at Auto Zone and both times I've been told it checks out ok... IDK HTF to clear this...

Question

So did you get this fixed impact? I ask because now I think I have a problem with mine too but haven't had it checked yet, gonna try that today...

My battery light flashed twice really fast at one point this evening and after that, I realized the the odometer readout and my headlights were slightly flickering... nothing major yet. Also at idle, the flickering is minimal... BUT When I rev the engine up, the flickering increases. Does it sound like my alternator is taking a dump? If so, it could also explain why the stereo has been actin' funny... at least I think so...

Ok, well I went to advance earlier... they said it was fried, which I wouldn't doubt, so I got a reman alternator from there. I'm about to install it in a bit. Hopefully this is it, cuz I'm pretty sure its the factory alternator at almost 80k.
