window scratches?

I have these little vertical (up & down) scratches on my windows that have been bugging me since i got the car. Now i think i read it on this board someone else posted they had the same problem on their s197 and they found out it was a defect on these new model (i cant find that thread), so is this correct?
So i went back to the dealership to see if they can fix this problem under warranty and they said NO! why?, cause the scratches were on the tint film not on the windows its self so there for they cant do anything and so there blaming it on the previous owner. So my question is, is it really a defect on these windows and if i have it re-tint the windows will it cause the same problem over?

any info would be great, thanks.

its NOT a defect its not up to the dealer to make it so your aftermarket film does not get scratched all factory tint is INSIDE the window

any car with external tint had it added by the dealership or owner not from ford

so its not there problem to waranty it

they did however redesign the lip with a pad so get the new ones and its a non issue .. however most dealers will not offer to waranty that.

However there was enough of a flap over this that they redesigned the 08 window lip with felt to avoid this and you can replace your earlier model lip with the felt one from a later model at your own expense if you like to stop this hapening again.

fi you wish to fix the issue here is the part numbers for the window weathber strips from the 08 that has factory installed felt

08 LH (8R3Z-6321457-A) & RH (8R3Z-6321456-A)
will cost you about 50 bucks for the pair and take a half hour to install

It's absolute bullshit they won't warranty it.
Apparently they see it as enough of an issue to "revise" it. . . . seriously, what model of car doesn't get tint put on it?
Hell, my tint was even installed by the dealer. . .still, no warranty.
On this issue, Ford is a bastard.
It's not a defect. . . it's just crappy design. So crappy, that they know it's crappy, and redesigned it.

YOU SAID IT YOURSELF your tint is installed by the DEALER not ford there for there is no reason ford should warranty it.

thats like saying HEY i put big tires on the front of my car and they run when i turn corners ford should waranty my wheels since they got scratched..

they redesigned it because of all the complaining.

Well you maybe able to get the tint installer to warranty the tint. After you have the new strips installed.
IF they are a decent tint shop nad IF the warranty against scratches/cracking/peeling etc. They MAY help out.
Otherwise as stated the tint is an OWNER insttalled item therfore FOMOCO wont cover the window tint. They MAY replace teh window parts inside that caused the scratched IF you are polite and have a decent relationship with a dealer and or service advisro. Otherwise this will most likely be an out o pocket repair.

Good Luck.

Sometimes when I push the windows up or down on my ‘05 GT on the driver side I hear this scratching noise or rubbing noise…My car has tint also…Is this why it does that? Also someone said to just add silicon liquid to it and it will stop but haven’t tried that yet…

I bought tint from an aftermarket place and I had the same problem. I took mine to the place i bought it and spoke with the service rep my saleswoman introduced me to the night i bought the car. Luckly he remembered me from the last time i had my oil changed there and I explained what happened and they replaced the doors with the new parts under warranty.

I read about this problem a couple of months back. The people I heard this from kept talking about something called "Mole Skin". They said it works great to keep the tint from scratching.

Sorry, but it's absolutely retarded to think that it would be ok to install items that would affect tint. . . how long has tint been around?

YOU SAID IT YOURSELF. . . .they're released revisions because they know they fucked up.

They didnt fuck up they just got tired of all the people complaining thinking it should be in warranty. They didnt HAVE to fix it, they did it to take the middle ground. Tint has been around for a long time however its still a MODIFICATION to the car, last time i looked no MOD even its its as common as TINT WILL NOT be covered by a manufactors warranty. Thats goes with ANY manufactor.

Wow. ... they didn't fuck up, so they released a revision. . . . hmmmm. . . . if they didn't fuck up, why wasn't this a problem until 05?
Obviously a material change, and they've corrected THEIR problem now.
Sorry, there isn't a damn thing you can say that will make me believe that they haven't seen the ERROR they caused, and have done what they can to fix THEIR problem.

It's fucking tint. . . you can't honestly say this is some new aftermaket, warranty killing item that was just released.

I love Ford to death, but this was a fuck up.

A friend of mine owns a window tint and audio shop in Lubbock and I get it done there. But Alamo auto sound and security do great work. Memo Chin and King are the owners.
