I didnt look at the pics sorry just going by the year. So it has already benn defaced and therefore devalued even further. OH Well good luck with it LMK if ya need any thing for the interior I have a complete interior that wont be going back in my car.
I also have a coml=plete set of 4 lug frt disc brakes and control arms (frt) just in case ya have a use for um cuz I dont...

yea i hope they can get a title. that would be a heck of a deal, the car isnt in that bad of shape, it wouldnt take more than 200 to get it running i dont think, unless the motor is just trashed.. but i dunno

if they cant get a title im just gonna look elsewhere.. more deals to be had..

I dont know about the 200 part. How do you know if the motor will even turn or has any compression etc....

I would be real careful man No title no keys broken trunk lock....Can you say "stolen vehicle"....

Not to bash on you but you seem to have some really high expectations for a really cheap car that will be a quick fix.... chances are it will be ALOT more work than you are anticipating....
Be careful man and check over whatever you get carefully. I know you want a project but there are projects and then there ar PROJECTS....

can't remember why people don't like the 86's....something about the motors in them.....can't remember if it was the block or the heads....but you can't mod them like the 79-85s and 87-95s.....maybe someone else can shed some light...

It was the first year of FI ... and it didn't do very well. Not a block issue.

It does not MOD as well as the others ....

and don ya i know, its not that i have high expectations, its just if they have a title i know its not stolen, im not even gonna look at it until i know i can get the title.

im just going by what the add says, if its just been sitting there, than just a good tune up should get it running, i.e like 200 for the parts n a carb rebuild. i dont get my hopes up..i stoped that at age 12 lol..

from what i have heard speed density is not all that bad, there is plenty of cams to chose from, its just trickier to tune.

Well, from the quick history lesson I got ... the '86 was well out-performed by the '85s that were carburated.

Now there are options to mod it, but the first year of FI is not an easy choice. Check out some books on it, before getting yourself signed up for a project you may end up not having fun with ...

The next model year was better .... or two years later -- whenever they did the MASS air thing.

and +1 to ray... lol they are all like freakin out because i dont wanna spend 4k on a 20+ yr old car..

the deals are out there, iv just been a step behind on a few

86 had e6 heads... 87 had e7's.... see a pattern there? speed density was from 86-88 after which they went to mas air.. i really dont see the big deal.... later on when you're not happy with that motor, go blow it up and throw an 88 in there... forged pistons stock, e7's (not that bad with some port work) and a mass air conversion isn't that hard.. the hardest part is tracking down a good maf and a decent a9l or a9p....

i agree.. i bought a 4 cyl car because it's EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR... i paid $700 for mine, and i'm happy about it.. i got one that's in very VERY good condition for the price, and i wanted to do the V8 swap myself once i got another car to drive daily.. you can find a car for the price you want.. you're just wanting a decent powertrain rather than a decent body/interior like i was searching for...

there actualy are plenty of 4 banger coupes and hatches.. but i just dont want to deal with having to swap out all that stuff. the only way i would get a 4 banger is iff it was in GREAT running and interior condition. then i would just build a motor on the side i guess.

that's what i did.. the auto tranny went out right after i bought it but i already had most of my 5 speed conversion stuff bought.. i spent a total of less than 2k on my car and i drive it 50+ miles a day and am about to take it to san antonio
