PM me if your interested. I am in Katy so it would be a drive for ya.

BTW the motor is out of a 99 GT.

I appreciate the offers guys, but I only need one driver's side Romeo PI head with valve-train. I don't even need the cam...only the casting, lifters, followers, valves, retainers, etc. I'm in no big rush. If I can't find one by the end of the year I'll begin shopping for a pair.

Thanks,
Michael

Not to be rude, but in your case, you may have to buy things in parts or buy a pair. I don't think many people would want to sell just one head and have the other sitting there and not be able to sell it. Try e-bay then, maybe you will get lucky, but in the meantime, you have had several offers for pieces here and that alone will get you your goal.

Oh, don't worry about coming off as rude. I realize that what I'm asking for isn't an easy find. Just thought I might get lucky. With the way these heads spit out spark plugs and the unreliability of the timing component's, you'd be surprised how many people have only one good head left over. You can pick 'em up really cheap that way. Pairs on ebay sell for $150 to $400 shipped, depending on what kind of suckers are bidding that week, haha. But you can get one complete PI head for $80 to $100 shipped, by itself! I'll shop for a pair if I can't find a mate to this one. I've bought and sold a few sets.

1QUICKGT, if you're referring to the 99GT motor, those heads are more than likely Windsor heads. I need to stick with Romeos. I just had a nice set of Windsors and sold them because I want Romeo heads specifically for this project.

Again, I really appreciate the responses. Most threads in other local forums don't get as much attention as I've seen here. I like this board.

It was pre 02 heads I believe that have the short thread holes. Late 99-00 heads are Windsor, so Romeo, after 02 will have the extra threads. As far as un-reliability of timing components, care to elaborate on that? I have seen 2 in my time as a mechanic that have had extra wear on the guides, but that was owner lack of maintenance.

Probably more related to modded cars... Jumping timing on the Dyno and broken timing chains. Valves get bent in one head and people swap both heads out for better heads, leaving one good one and the other in need of new valvetrain. I haven't personally seen any reliability issues with a stock motor. Aside from timing parts failing, there are the broken ladder caps... since the cam-caps are machined specific to the head they are bolted to. There are all kinds of reasons I've seen that have left people trying to sell one head.

They're out there.

Hmmm, guess all that money I spent modding my motor went down the drain then!
If done correctly, you will have no issues. Don't get me wrong, shit happens, but that kind of shit would happen to a careless builder, or just one who doe not pay attention to details. I'd say the ratio of good to bad builders out there out weigh the bad/mishapped engines!

I know the difference in a Romeo and a W motor. I have a damn 4.6 PI ROMEO motor that has a good set of heads on the damn thing. Want it for $150 you can have it. If you don't then I'll simply pull it apart and sell the heads alone for the same price.

Also not trying to be rude but i do know what I have and I know what car it came out of as I also own it.

I have an 02 Romeo DS head. 2 of the valves in the front cylinder are bent slightly. The piston only made contact a few times, seriously. It would be a really easy fix. It will comme complete. Make me and offer. I'm also in Denton. Right down the road.

So then you already know that I'm not interested in heads out of a "99 GT." If your motor is a Romeo motor, then it would help not to describe it as coming "out of a 99 GT." That's a bit misleading. I also don't know of anyone that would sell a Romeo PI motor for $150.00. Maybe you want it out of your way that badly, or maybe it came out of a stolen car. Thank you anyways, but I don't need or want a whole motor.

Maybe. My father always used to say, "You never know." Words to live by, I found out! Whatever the cause, shit happening to others (be it by their own ignorance, carelessness or the incompetence of their engine builder) means good deals for the rest of us!

Well the motor could have been replaced before I bought this car, who knows. I do know it is a Romeo motor.

There is NOTHING in my shop that is stolen and anyone who knows me will vouch for me being a stnd up streight forward person. EVERYTHING in my shop is done on the books, plain and simple. Very easy to get caught up in some bullshit and loose a business and everything you own by doing it any other way.

The motor has a rod chucked through the side of it so I have NO USE for it. I bought a COMPLETE 04 motor to stuff back into the car with 7400 miles on it. Yes it is in my way, I own a paint and body shop NOT a mechanic shop so I have having motors and suck laying around with all the oil and products of such that come along with a motor/mechanic work. I am well aware of what these are worth as I paid $1650 for a USED motor.

Now with all that being said, would you be interested in the set of heads for that same price if I pull them off or not? I have a scap guy who huals off all my wrecked cars and junk. I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking what ever is left.

I think I've found one driver's-side head, locally. Good luck and thanks for trying to help.
