Smile Yet another tire size question

Ok...I have the 18x10 deep dish bullitts for the back.

Had a UPS damaging issue that about drove my Wife nuts!

But I now have them and have ordered the 18X9 for the front.

Now Im rethinking the rubber.

I was almost sure I wanted
P255/45ZR-18 for the front
and
P285/40ZR-18 for the back.

Nitto NT 555 extremes

Anyway....wanna adjust for height and want to keep them in the wheel well
on the S197.

Saw one locally here (Mikes) and it looked so hot with 295's in back.

I cant remember why I went 45's on the front and 40's on the back....rake or size for speedo....
anyway.....Ideas...?

I actually have 285/40/18 NT555s extreme on 18x10 saleen but it's on a 99GT. 285/40/18/s look beefier than the first image you posted. Those tires kind of look like 35 series and not 40s. Let me know if you want me to snap a shot of mine.

you need to talk to egomez.....he just put 18s on his s197 roush and has tried a couple of different tire sizes on it. He was telling me what size to go with and what to stay away from. If i remember corectly you dont wanna go to a 315...but i could be remembering wrong

get with stanger sc - he's running 18x10s in rear.
Not sure what tire size but it looks killer.
See third photo from top of thread.
Kind of look like 315s.

You can go with any tire you want as long as the end result is 27" in height. Anything less will look funny. I tried the 295/35/18 and it looked stupid hardly any sidewall tire for our cars. I've seen some guys go with he 295/40/18 and that would be fine because the 40 part is what gives you the height. Now a 315 in the other hand on a 10" wheel will make your car feel like shit, or atleast it did on my car. If you are looking into the KDW2's then 285/40/18's on a 10" wheel is the way to go. I did some research on these tires and on a 10" wheel you will get 11.4" wide and 27" Height, which I noticed from the pics you posted are almost as wide as the 295/40/18's you are looking into. The 295/35/18 will give you 11.9" wide but only 26.1" in height. .5" isn't all that much but remember this is on a 10" wheel. I'm sure a 10.5 wheel will make a 295 alot wider than that. I believe Stanger SC is running the same Tire I am or atleast it looks like it.

I have 18x10 black bullits for the back and 18x9 for the front.
Do you have any wheel well scrapeage with the 295's?

What did you use on the front?

Are the KDW better than the Nitto 555 extreme or the
Falken Azenis RT-615...?

Looking for a good all around tire thats beefy and bad ass but can still handle well
with a nice ride. To much to ask for eh? ha haa

Doesnt look like the KDW come in a 295/40...

SVT Rob found me this site:

and got this:

Absolutely True. my 285/40/18 KDW2 is probably wider than the Nitto 295/40/18. It just depends on the Brand of tire and size of rim too.

Don't have a S197, but I do have BFG KDW's and they are great in dry weather. Not so great in misty or heavy rain. I have hydroplaned across the highway at between 50-60 mph and it is not fun! The KDW 2's are the ones with the more radical tread pattern I believe, newer generation KDW. I considered it, but just went with the traditional tread pattern. Hope this helps and sorry I can't help on the size, but it sounds like you've found the guys that know.

ditto - just like shoes - a size 10 NIKEs won't fit the same as size 10 Converse LOL
